America Ferrera Reveals Favorite Fashion Moment from the Barbie Press Tour: ‘Felt Like a Badass’ (Exclusive)

America Ferrera knocked it out of the park with every one of them Barbie press tour looks like.

The actress, styled by Karla Welch, wore everything from baby pink St. John two-piece ensemble for the film’s world premiere to a fiery Alex Perry body-hugging dress for the European premiere.

However, one outfit stood out to Ferrera as her absolute favorite – which is saying a lot when every look was killer.

“I had many favorites Barbie fashion moments,” Ferrera tells PEOPLE exclusively. “My stylist, Karla Welch, is just killer. We had a lot of fun together.”

Ferrera, who plays Gloria in the Margot Robbie-led film, points to her all-leather outfit at Barbie press conference in Seoul, South Korea on July 3 as her winner since the summer.

“I loved it so much,” Ferrera says of the Tanya Taylor top and Veronica Beard pants. “I mean, I loved so many outfits, so it’s really hard to choose. But I remember putting this on and going, ‘This is exactly how I feel.'”

The look was styled with a black belt and black platform heels, while Ferrera wore her hair slicked back and a bold pink lip. She rounded everything off with gold jewelry by Jennifer Meyer. Welch took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos of the actress at the time, captioned “AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL.” Conveniently, the post was shared on July 4, with Ferrera leaving a glowing message: “I love you my queen.”

Ferrera tells PEOPLE that the bold skin look — plus hair and makeup — made her feel like a “badass,” adding, “I felt strong.”

“I love wearing a dress, but there’s something about pants and heels that make me feel tall because I’m 5’2″, so I love being in high heels, but the great look of the pants feels like it’s my true inside look,” says Ferrera “Which is so brilliant [Karla] never wears clothes on me. It always helps me achieve what I want to feel. Sometimes it’s soft and feminine, and sometimes it’s va va voom. And other times he’s, like, a badass boss in a pantsuit. I’d say I probably feel most like me in a bad pantsuit.”

After working together for over a decade, Ferrera and Welch have reached a point where they work seamlessly together. They work in tandem and Ferrera says Welch helps bring out the best in her. Besides, she pushes her.

“Karla sometimes makes me be brave,” he admits. “I don’t know if I’ve ever done full skin before. I felt so amazing in that outfit.”
