‘America’s Got Talent’ Alum Madilyn Bailey Just Delivered Her Debut Album — and a Baby Girl Is Next (Exclusive)

Madilyn Bailey has a lot to keep up with right now.

“I’m really trying to create every last bit of content,” Bailey tells PEOPLE from her home in Los Angeles. “We only have a few more videos to shoot. Right now have to do it.”

Helping her keep things in order is a wall in her home filled with post-it notes organized into rows and columns that spell out a series of priorities for the coming weeks — a wall that could resemble a work of art if looked at the right way.

“That’s my brain,” Bailey, 30, laughs at her crowded wall. “It’s the only way I can think of anything. It has to be in front of me and I have to have all the ideas for all my different social media channels. What do we publish, when do we publish, what are the goals, what are we trying to achieve? All ideas for TikTok. Yes, it’s a lot.”

Certainly, it’s a pressure that doesn’t bother Bailey too much, even though it’s season 16 American talent the favorite is currently on the threshold of the third trimester of pregnancy.

“My birthday is November 24,” says Bailey. “She’s going to be a baby for Thanksgiving and I plan to take some time off, but I’ll probably say it for a few weeks and then I’ll be ready to go.”

Her husband Jimmy Benrud, whom Bailey married in 2014, has been working with her for a long time. And while the couple always knew they wanted to have children, life had many surprises in store for them.

“A few days after my audition for American talentI had a terrible situation with worsening endometriosis,” says Bailey, who made her mark in 2021 AGT a performance of her original song composed of hateful comments she received on her YouTube channel. “The doctor said I have perhaps the worst case of endometriosis [she had] ever worked.”

Bailey and her husband were forced to make a crucial decision between having a hysterectomy or trying to have a child, all while Bailey’s music career began to take off.

“I got [laparoscopic] surgery and that’s when we decided to start IVF,” Bailey remembers. “For the next two years, I was on hormone therapy to help with endometriosis, and then on IVF. And the interesting thing about doing IVF when you have endometriosis is that the IVF drugs that grow your eggs also grow your endometriosis. So that kind of makes it worse in the beginning.”

But earlier this year – after three surgeries, 317 injections and one failed transfer – Bailey finally got the news she was pregnant.

“We literally found out I was pregnant and then a week later we were shooting the cover Hollywood dead”, says Bailey about his impressive debut album. “So the whole time I was pregnant, I was making all the content for Hollywood dead. I guess it gave me something to think about besides being pregnant, because when you’re pregnant for the first time, everything is scary.”

It’s an album that Bailey says sums up all of her creative sides.

“There’s a slightly edgier rock section, and then there’s a slightly edgier Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen section,” she explains. “I think it’s a really good representation of all my pop influences and the story it tells about my journey moving to LA from start to finish.”

It’s a story she hopes to tell her daughter one day.

“I just want to create a space for her where she can be creative and know that anything is possible,” Bailey concludes. “Whatever she wants to do, I want to be able to support her in it. There is no dream too big to dream.”
