‘Amish Stud’ Lifetime Movie Trailer Stars Luke Macfarlane and Kirsten Vangsness as Secret Lovers (Exclusive)

Luke Macfarlane is an unfaithful, scheming husband in the first trailer for Lifetime’s new movie, Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story.

Inspired by a true story and based on the film “Murder in Amish Country: Sex, Betrayal and Cold-Blooded Murder” by Gregg Olsen and Rebecca Morris, Amish Stud sees Macfarlane, 43, take on the role of Eli Weaver, a husband and father living in a conservative Amish community in Ohio.

As the trailer opens, Eli and his wife, Barbara Weaver (FlashMiranda MacDougall), are seemingly the picture of happiness. They bond over their desire for “big, exciting, life-changing love.” Barbara also shares her simple wishes for her life, saying, “I want to live a good Amish life, devoted to God and my husband.”

But Eli still wants more than he let on. As he surrenders to temptations forbidden by his faith – women, sex and technology – the Weaver family falls apart.

After downloading a dating app and creating a profile called “Amish Stud,” Eli embarks on a series of affairs, his passion for multiple mistresses directly correlated with his disgust for women. “As long as she’s still breathing, she’s going to tear us apart,” Macfarlane’s character says of his wife in the trailer.

One of his lovers, Barb Raber (Kirsten Vangsness), seems to be involved in Eli’s desire to get rid of his wife.

“Look for quick ways to kill someone,” Eli says to Barb in the trailer clip, to which she replies, “Are you in a hurry?”

At one point, Vangsness’ character says of Eli’s wife, “I wish she was dead.”

Far from Barbara being unaware of her husband’s infidelity. In one clip, she walks in on Eli and Barb together while they’re in the middle of an argument. In another, she finds what appears to be a love note—one that’s either not from her or not addressed to her—among her husband’s belongings.

Despite her suspicions, it’s not until Barbara is found dead from a shotgun wound in the Weaver home that the extent of her husband’s behavior is truly revealed.

“We should have listened when she asked for help,” one Amish woman says of Barbara during a court appearance, hinting at Barbara’s awareness of her husband’s illicit activities.

Although Eli has a very solid alibi – he was fishing with friends at the time of the shooting – when investigators discover his secret phone, which he used for his many affairs, they find themselves overwhelmed with new revelations, the synopsis says. .

The character of Vangsness – who is herself married – is of greatest interest in the investigation.
