His first professional song was “Hosh Mein Hum Kahan” from the film “Darwaza” released in 1978. He recorded the song in 1973, when he was 21 years old. His last film was “Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein” with Leena Chandavarkar (Stepmother) and Rajesh Khanna, directed by his father. After Kishore Kumar’s death on October 13, 1987, Amit Kumar took over as the director of the film, completed the film and released it in 1989.
