His first professional song was “Hosh Mein Hum Kahan” from the film “Darwaza” released in 1978. He recorded the song in 1973, when he was 21 years old. He has performed popular songs such as “Haseeno Ke Chakkar Mein”, “Sun Chache Bol”, “Nazar Lage Na Saathiyo” with his father. In 1976, he sang “Bade Achchhe Lagte Hain” composed by RD Burman.
