Amrapali Kata was born on Thursday, November 4, 1982, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India (age 2019: 37 years). She received her primary education from Sai Satya Mandir School, Visakhapatnam. For higher education, she passed the Indian Institute of Technology exams and received her B.Tech from Chennai. Thereafter, she studied at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore and received her MBA degree. Her zodiac sign is Scorpio.

Her father was a professor at Andhra University. She has one sibling; a sister. Her sister works in the Karnataka State Revenue Department.
She got married to IPS officer Sameer Sharma on February 18, 2018. She has no children.
Profession
She passed the UPSC exam in 2010 and secured 39th rank. She was one of the youngest candidates to pass the exam. In 2013, she served as Deputy Collector of Vikarabad, Telangana. In 2014, she served as Director of the Women and Children Welfare Department.
Thereafter, she was appointed as Joint Collector of Rangareddy District, Telangana in 2015. In 2016, she served as Joint Collector of Warangal Municipal District, Telangana. Her work has been appreciated by the local and government many times. She has been working on solving common problems in society; to make people aware of this, she has also distributed books on Health Economics.
She also served as Private Secretary to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy.

In 2018, while delivering a speech on Republic Day, she laughed twice. She fumbled for some Telugu words. After the ceremony, she was criticized in the media for laughing at a public event.
