Amy Adams Is Giving Her Mom Uniform an 'Upgrade' at the Request of Her Daughter Aviana, 14 (Exclusive)

Flawless on the red carpet, at home, Amy Adams got some new style tips from the discerning crowd.

In this week’s issue of PEOPLE magazine, the Oscar-nominated actress revealed that her 14-year-old daughter Aviana, who she shares with husband Darren Le Gall, gently suggested she improve her maternity uniform.

“I’m usually the least manicured in my household,” says Adams, 50. “It’s usually a ponytail, maybe a hat.”

But a few things are changing, after years of being “very dedicated to tights and printed T-shirts,” she laughs. “Lately, at my daughter’s request, I’ve been working on an upgrade. She says, ‘You can’t wear workout clothes if you don’t workout, Mom. You can’t just do part of your free time.’ ”

Still, on the red carpet, Adams was always a style star.

While promoting her new film night bitch (out now) this fall, Adams showed off her dimensional style in looks that ranged from chic suits to timeless dresses on the red carpet.

Aviana even joined her parents on the red carpet for night bitch at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. “It was really great to share it with her,” says the proud mom.

Amy Adams says she liked to act like a dog in the night bitch: ‘Zero F–s to Give’ (Exclusive)

On the set night bitch — a film that’s “a realistic look at being a woman and a mother as you age, and it’s a real approach, nipples and all,” says director Marielle Heller — Adams was adamant about physically portraying the reality of motherhood in a way that would resonate with audiences.

“I didn’t even want her to dye her hair. I think what makes this movie so relatable is that Amy was willing to look like a real person, not a Facetuned movie star,” says Heller.

Adams further devoted herself to her role as a mother, seemingly turning into a real dog as a coping mechanism as she struggles with the weight and isolation of new motherhood, refusing to use beard hair. Instead, she voluntarily grew her own follicles.

“They wanted to use prosthetic hair, and I said, ‘I can do better than that,’” she tells PEOPLE.
