Sexual assault allegations against Donald Trump
In September 2020, Amy Dorris made a sexual assault accusation against Donald Trump in an exclusive interview with The Guardian. In the accusation, Amy Dorris claimed that Donald Trump harassed her outside the bathroom of the VIP box during a US Open in New York on September 5, 1997.
Doris said she was 24 and Trump was 51 when he forced his tongue down her throat, violated her body and held her so tightly she couldn’t get away. Describing the incident, Amy said:
He just shoved his tongue down my throat and I pushed him away. That’s when his grip tightened and his hands groped my ass, my chest, my back, everywhere. I was in his grip and I couldn’t get away. I don’t know what you call the feeling when you stick your tongue down someone’s throat. But I pulled it out with my teeth. I was pushing it. I think I might have hurt his tongue.”
According to Dorris, she confided in several people, including her mother and a friend in New York. When Amy Dorris was asked about her allegations in the run-up to the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Dorris defended her claims and said she had considered speaking publicly about the matter in 2016, when Donald Trump was facing similar allegations from several women. Amy Dorris said,
Now I feel like my daughters are turning 13 and I want them to know that you don’t let anyone do anything to you that you don’t want to do. I’d rather be a role model. I want them to see that I didn’t stay silent and that I stood up against people who did things that were unacceptable.”
Dorris said that during a long weekend in New York in September 1997, her then-boyfriend Jason Binn introduced her to Trump and invited her to his private box, a luxurious carpeted suite with a balcony overlooking the court. She also claimed that the alleged attack occurred when she got up to go to the bathroom, which was hidden behind a partition wall; she said,
I had a problem with my contact lenses. I remember going there to moisten my lenses. ”
She also said that when she came out, she found Trump waiting outside the bathroom, so he forced himself into her. According to Amy, after the incident, she decided to wear conservative clothes in front of Trump, and the next day, Amy and her boyfriend made a brief stop at Trump Tower in New York City, posing for photos with celebrities including musician Lenny Kravitz and Sean Combs (aka P. Diddy) before returning to Trump’s VIP box.
Later, more VIPs arrived in Trump’s box, including Leonardo Dicaprio and magician David Blaine.
On September 8, 1997, she attended Gianni Versace’s memorial service with her boyfriend Bean and Trump. When asked why she continued to be with Trump, she said,
I rushed there from Florida to be with Jason. I had no money and nowhere to go. We were going from one event to another, and it was overwhelming. People have been with someone who abused them for years, and that’s what happens when trauma strikes, you freeze up.”
