Amy Schumer Addresses Backlash to Her Joke That Nicole Kidman Photo Looked ‘Not Human Like’: ‘Breathe, Y’all’

Amy Schumer has a message for critics regarding a recent joke she made about fellow actress Nicole Kidman: “Breathe, everybody.”

On Friday, A train accident The 42-year-old actress issued a statement regarding her comment about Bomb star, 56, which some found distasteful.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Schumer posted a photo of Kidman sitting in the stands at the US Open. “This is how a man sits,” the comedian wrote under the picture. Soon after, many accused Schumer of bullying.

“Okay, I joked that the way she was positioned didn’t look like a man sitting. I wasn’t making fun of her looks. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most amazing actresses of all time,” Schumer said Friday.

“I hope everyone is doing well and taking a deep breath, including all the thoughts written on this,” Schumer wrote before asking if her critics were okay.

“To all the people who commented on me. I’m so sorry I’m not prettier. Please, forgive me. I apologize,” she continued.

Schumer went on to talk about the amount of attention her comment garnered, adding, “It wasn’t even a slow news day.”

Schumer added: “But what caught you off guard is that I said that Nicole Kidmans pose is not human. Breathe, everyone.”

After she forgave “people who write hate” about her, Last Comic Standing alum said she hopes everyone enjoys the weekend.

Her Instagram comments section filled up again, with users divided over her apology.

“We forgive you too for being full of hate and insensitivity,” wrote one user.

Another joked: “How dare you joke – what do you think you’re a comedian?”

Meanwhile, Howie Mandel offered some support.

“You should never be put in the position of explaining comedy. You are and always have been a treasure. It’s hard to find a sense of humor,” the American talent the judge stated. “Anyone who doesn’t understand you is missing out on this treasure you keep sharing. You should never feel that you have to defend yourself because of their inability to understand and enjoy.”

Kidman has yet to publicly respond to the comments as she prepares for the release Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomsequel to the 2018 film starring Jason Momoa.
