Dr. Anahita Pandole is an Indian obstetrician and gynecologist based in Mumbai. She has a special interest in infertility management, high-risk obstetrics, and endoscopic surgery. Dr. Anahita Darius Pandole was born in 1967 in Mumbai, Maharashtra (age 55 in 2022). She received her Bachelor of Medicine degree from Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Charity Hospital in 1990. After graduation, Dr. Anahita began her career as a gynecologist. She is one of the most renowned gynecologists in Mumbai with around 32 years of experience. She is an expert in infertility management, high-risk obstetrics and endoscopic surgery with approximately 25 years of experience. Pandole is associated with many reputed hospitals in Mumbai. In January 2004, she launched the Bombay Parsi Panchayet Fertility Project in partnership with the Bombay Parsi Panchayet. The motive of the project is to control the declining population of the Parsi community by providing fertility treatment to Parsi couples at affordable prices and providing them with state-of-the-art medical facilities. She played a key role in developing the project’s ideas and implementation approach. In 2013, the Indian government established the Jiyo Parsi Program to address the declining Parsi population in India. Anahita provides guidance to the Jiyo Parsi team on multiple medical issues.
Activism
In addition to being a doctor, she is also an activist, lending her voice to various social issues. She actively opposed the hoardings on Marine Lines and after a 17-year battle, Anahita successfully removed the illegal hoardings on Mumbai’s iconic Marine Drive on July 12, 2019. On September 4, 2022, Cyrus Mistry along with his family friends Darius Pandole, Anahita Pandole and Jia Jahangir Dhinshaw Pandole returned to Mumbai after attending the Parsi religious function of Behram Roj in Udwada. They were traveling in a Mercedes GLC 220 D driven by Anahita Pandole. The car was speeding and when Anahita tried to overtake from the left, she lost control of the car and crashed into the median. They were immediately taken to hospital. Anahita Pandole and her husband Darius Pandole were seriously injured in the accident, while their co-passenger Cyrus Mistry and death of Jahangir Dhinshaw Pandole. Both Anahita and her husband were admitted to the intensive care unit of Rainbow Hospital in Vapi. Later, they were shifted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Both suffered multiple fractures.
