Andy Cohen Thinks Bette Midler Would Be the 'Grand Dame of Beverly Hills' If She Joined RHOBH

Andy Cohen weighs in on the realistic prospects of Bette Midler’s debut in the Bravo universe.

Soon after Hocus pocus star, 78, shared her interest in joining the cast The Real Housewives of Beverly HillsThe Bravo mogul responded to her public proposal on Monday’s episode SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.

“You may have seen Bette Midler’s tweet,” he said before reading aloud. “You’d be the grande dame of Beverly Hills in a second!”

Last week, Midler posed a question to her followers on Xu, formerly known as Twitter. “Is it too late for me to become The Real Housewife of Beverly Hills“, the actress asked her fans. “I’ve never seen it, but I’m in the mood to talk some s—. And get paid for it? Dream! #RHOBH.”

At the time, Cohen, 55, responded with Midler’s promising post, to which she responded with a suggestion for her tagline on the show: “I think my tagline should be ‘Those beaches don’t know what’s gonna hit ’em!!'”

Although Cohen expressed his excitement about her involvement in the reality series, he admitted on his radio show that he had doubts about how the actress would fare after working with her during his stint on 48 hours.

“She didn’t care about our process at all,” the Bravo mogul explained, adding that she’s not a fan of the documentary style of filming. “My only concern when I was really thinking about this is that I don’t know if she would like it if we just showed up with the cameras rolling and shot her.”

The long hours on set were not the only factor that made him hesitant to cast her for the show. Cohen also wondered how much it would cost to join her.

“I will be very excited to have Bette Midler join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I just want to say that. Also, I mean, Bette Midler is a superstar,” he continued. “How much would it cost because she said she wanted to make a lot of money to p—talk.”

Despite his reluctance, Cohen considered possible storylines that Midler could be involved in and even suggested that she join the show in a “friend” capacity.
