Makarand Padhye is an Indian actor, dialogue writer, director, producer and photographer. He is known for his role as Bal Thackeray in the 2022 biopic Dharmaveer directed by Pravin Tarde.

Makarande Padhi was born in Mumbai. He attended Chabildas Lallubhai Boy’s High School in Mumbai and then studied art at Ruparel College. Studied at Sir JJ College of Applied Arts, Mumbai from 1986 to 1991.

Makarand has acted in many plays and collaborated with various theaters including Ravindra Natya Mandir, Savitribai Phule Natya Sabhagrah, etc. In 2005, he acted in the Marathi drama Baikach Ekka Ghadi Bhar Paika directed by Pandurang Kulkarni. He starred in the Marathi comedy Agabai Solava Waris Dhokyacha with Pandurang Kulkarni; the video CD of the show was released on November 28, 2005.

He played a supporting role in the Marathi stage play Ekach Pyala, which was released in May 2019. In June 2022, he starred in the stage play Vishwanayak, a Hindi drama about the life journey of Swami Vivekananda. He plays the role of Surendranath in the show along with Vikas Patil who plays Swami Vivekanand.

In 2019, he acted in the Marathi film Fafuta. In 2022, he came to limelight for playing the role of Balasaheb Thackeray in the biopic Dharmaveer alongside Prasad Oak and Kshitish Date. The film is based on the life of late Shiv Sena leader Anand Degai.
