Andy Reid has taken on two important roles: coach and father.
The head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs is the father of five children, all of whom he welcomed with his wife Tammy Reid. They have sons Garrett, Britt and Spencer Reid and daughters Drew Ann and Crosby Reid together.
The couple’s first child was born when Andy was finishing his master’s degree in Utah. Because of Andy’s coaching career, the Reids were constantly on the move — resulting in each of their five children being born in different states.
If there’s one thing that trumps Andy’s love of football, it’s family. Tammy previously spoke about her husband’s dedication to her children amid his busy schedule as a coach.
“He would go in at these crazy hours and then come home at fifteen to seven [in the morning] and have breakfast with the kids,” Tammy recalled in a story written for the Kansas City Chiefs. “Then he would drive one group to school and I would drive the others.”
All of Andy’s sons built careers focused on football, like their father. Spencer was able to be with Andy on the sidelines for some of his playoff wins.
“Just seeing my husband next to my sons, it’s great,” Tammy continued. “All the pictures we have of them hugging after the games, just so they know they’re with their dad and they can share this joy together. It’s emotional.”
In contrast to Andy and Tammy’s life in the spotlight, their children keep a relatively low profile and are rarely photographed together. The couple also has 12 grandchildren, who often share sweet moments together after Chiefs games.
Here’s everything you need to know about Andy Reid’s five children.

Garrett Reid is Andy and Tammy’s first child, born while his father was finishing his master’s degree in Utah.
In 1999, Andy became the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. According to The New York Timeshis children had an “idyllic upbringing,” being involved in Eagle Scouts and piano lessons by the time they were 18.
In August 2012, Garrett reportedly died of a heroin overdose CBS News. At the time, he was working for the Eagles as a strength and conditioning staff assistant and was found in his bedroom at the team’s practice facility in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Garrett, who was 29 at the time of his death, had experienced drug addiction for nearly a decade. After his death, Andy and Tammy thanked fans for their support.
“Although he lost a battle that has been going on for eight years, we will always remember him as a fighter who had a big and loving heart,” they said in a press statement.
After the Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl, Tammy briefly addressed the death of her oldest child. “The fact that we were all here, it was amazing,” Tammy said of the game, referring to her other four children. “Except for ‘Mr.’ So sad, but I know he’s watching us.”
Britt Reid

Britt Reid is Andy and Tammy’s second child, born in San Francisco “when Reid was selling hot dogs to make ends meet.” Like his older brother Garrett, he was an Eagle Scout and took piano lessons until he was 18 in suburban Philadelphia.
As Britt grew older, he began to show interest in a football career, and worked in several assistant coaching positions.
“His father signed him to the Kansas City staff after coaching one season in high school, interning with his father with the Eagles and serving as a student assistant at Temple,” according to NYT.
According to 2007 NYT, Britt and Garrett were “deeply involved in drugs.” They were arrested for various crimes, including drunk driving and drug possession for Britt.
Ahead of the Chiefs Super Bowl championship against the San Francisco 49ers in 2019, Britt acknowledged his past behavior and the good fortune that has come his way as Andy’s son.
“I just needed to grow up,” he said, in his words NYT. “Some people make dumber decisions at a young age than others and you just have to learn from them. I believe that everything in life has positive sides, but no matter how bad it is, something can be taken from it. I’m sure I learned that from my father and it’s something that carries me through.”
Girl, 5, injured in crash involving Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid wakes up from coma
Less than a year after that Super Bowl win, Britt was named in an assault investigation involving a Kansas City police officer in November 2020. Three months after that — and three days before the Chiefs played in their second straight Super Bowl – there was an accident caused by him in February 2021. A little girl was seriously injured.
According to police, Britt was behind the wheel of his pickup truck, driving near GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, when he crashed into two vehicles that had stopped on the side of the highway, injuring two children.
Britt, who was the Chiefs’ linebacker/outside linebacker coach at the time of the crash, admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel, police said at the time. The crash, which also injured Britt, left Ariel Miller, 5, in a coma for 11 days; her family’s lawyer said NYT her injuries changed her life. (The other child, a four-year-old, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.)
On November 1, 2022, Britt was sentenced to three years in prison for one count of DUI causing grievous bodily harm. In April 2023, KCTV5 reported that he was incarcerated at the Tipton Correctional Center.

Crosby Reid

Crosby is their third child and the eldest of Andy and Tammy’s two daughters. She lives quite modestly compared to her parents.
However, she stepped into the spotlight to perform the national anthem before the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium in December 2019. Andy spoke highly of her musical talent during a pregame press conference.
“She’ll be good,” Andy said. “I’m more nervous than she is; she’s enjoying herself.”
He also joked that her musical talent did not come from him: “I can’t sing or lick!” he joked. – My wife, everything is on her side.
In February 2020, when Andy won his first Super Bowl victory as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Crosby attended the game along with her siblings and mother. She spoke about the bittersweet victory after losing her brother Garrett.
“Garrett’s spirit was there. It was a big family moment to see my father’s dream finally come true,” she told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Drew Ann Reid

Drew Ann is Andy and Tammy’s fourth child, born in Missouri.
Similar to Crosby, Drew Ann lives out of the spotlight and little is known about her private life.
In February 2020, Drew Ann joined her family at the Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, but she was not photographed. Her mom, Tammy, said Philadelphia Inquirer which for her family meant being together to celebrate the victory.

Spencer Reid is the youngest of Andy and Tammy’s children, born in Wisconsin. But he almost broke the streak of parents giving birth to a child in a new state every time.
Tammy recalled becoming pregnant with baby number five and telling Andy that their family “had to move” from Missouri. When Andy asked why, she said, “Because we already had a baby here!”
A few months later, Tammy said Andy “got the call” to be the tight ends coach and offensive line assistant for the Green Bay Packers. “We went to Green Bay and baby number five was born there,” she said. “So we have five children born in five different states!”
Spencer followed in his father’s footsteps to the football field; to date, he has worked as a strength and conditioning coach for several teams.
Spencer spent a year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Brigham Young University, where Andy and Tammy met as students before marrying in 1981.
After his time at BYU, Spencer went on to work at Colorado State and Boston College before landing a job as an assistant strength coach for the Chiefs.
