Angel Reese Reveals She Used to Practice Her Catwalk While Watching ANTM and Aspires to Walk the Runway During Fashion Week

Angel Reese doesn’t just know how to play ball, she also knows how to style.

Chicago Sky rookie — who is featured on the cover VogueThe latest winter issue — revealed that she’s “always” been a fan of both “basketball and fashion” and that she not only practiced dunks, but also catwalks when she was younger.

“I used to watch America’s Next Top Model with Tyra [Banks] and practice my walk in the living room,” Reese, 22, recalled.

The WNBA star said she previously put that support to good use as she came out of the tunnel at Louisiana State University (LSU), where she gained popularity and momentum before being drafted and signed by the Chicago Sky. And she hopes that one day she will be able to do it professionally, despite the fact that her dream of basketball is now in full swing.

Reese said Vogue that she hopes to model in a real fashion show – probably during Paris Fashion Week – sometime in the future. She also described herself as a “fashion girl” and opened up about designing outfits when she was young for her mother, who also played basketball.

“I was always in my mother’s closet, putting her things away. I loved carrying a purse. The hairstyle is done. I wanted to look put together,” Reese said. “I still want to.”

Reese — who was nicknamed “Bayou Barbie” while playing for LSU — shared a photo of herself showing off her styling skills Voguewhich depicted her at the age of 5 in a pink dress and tiara.

She noted that she was still trying to bring that style to the court — something that caught the attention of several fans. She made headlines for wearing eyelash extensions and long pink nails during LSU games, adding to her nickname “Bayou Barbie.”

After releasing her Vogue cover, Reese celebrated on X. “COVERGIRL,” she announced.

Her love for fashion extends to her personal life. At the 2024 CFDA Awards in New York in October, she debuted her blonde hair for an angelic look. She matched her locks with an Emma dress from the Simkhai Pre-Fall 24 collection and a white feathered coat.

Fans will get to see more of Reese’s fashion prowess thanks to her new deal with sportswear company Reebok. On October 24, the company agreed to a multi-year extension to its endorsement deal – which will include its own signature shoe, set to go on sale in 2026.

“Reebok and Angel are growing together every day and our visions for the future are aligned. We are excited to continue our relationship with the core construction of her signature silhouette,” Reebok’s head of basketball Jide Osifeso said of the deal.

The expansion of the partnership with Reebok now counts Reese among six active WNBA players with a signature shoe deal – including fellow rookie Caitlin Clark, recent WNBA championship winner Breanna Stewart, league MVP A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu and Sydney Colson, according to ESPN.
