Anil Kumar Lahoti is a senior railway officer of the 1984 batch of the Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE) and has been selected to the 17th grade panel of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS). During his long railway career he held various positions with Central, Northern, North Central, Western and Central Western Railways and the Railway Board. From February 2005 to November 2009, he served as Chief Engineer (Construction) with the New Delhi-based Northern Railway. From November 2009 to February 2015, he served as Executive Director, Track (Mechanical), Indian Railways. In February 2015, he again started working with Northern Railways as Regional Railway Manager, Lucknow. In April 2017, he was promoted to Chief Bridge Engineer and was stationed in New Delhi. In January 2022, while serving as General Manager of Central Railway, he inaugurated the Busawar Operating Room in Busawar, Maharashtra.
In February 2022, he also served as General Manager of Western Railway Company. He will take over as a member of the Railway Infrastructure Committee on December 17, 2022. On January 1, 2023, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Commission of the Ministry of Railways.
