Anil Menon

Anil Menon is an Indian-born SpaceX medical director who was selected by NASA in December 2021 as one of the astronauts for future missions. On December 17, 2021, NASA selected a team of 10 astronauts based on interviews, aptitude tests, and physical examinations. Anil also served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force.

Anil Menon was born in 1976 in Minneapolis, Minnesota (45 years old in 2021). In 1995, he completed his studies at St. Paul’s College and Summit School. In 1999, he received his bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from Harvard University. In 2001, Anil was awarded the title of Rotary Ambassador Fellow in Medicine and Malayalam by Jawaharlal Nehru University. In 2003, he went to Stanford University to pursue a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. In 2006, he received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. In 2009, he earned his emergency medicine residency certificate at Kaiser Hospital Stanford. In 2010, he was awarded the Stanford University Wilderness Medicine Fellowship. In 2011, he went to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston to pursue a master’s degree in public health. In 2012, he received an Aerospace Medicine Fellowship in Aerospace Physiology and Medicine at the University of Texas.

Anil Menon joined the Department of Neurology at Harvard University as a researcher in June 1997. He then began working as an engineer at the BioVis Technology Center in Mountain View, California, in 2001. From 2009 to 2011, he began working as an emergency medicine physician at regional hospitals in Los Angeles, California. In October 2011, Anil started working as an emergency department physician.
