Animesh Debbarma is an Indian politician. He is the leader of the TIPRA (Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance) Motha party. Debbarma serves as Leader of Opposition in Tripura Legislative Assembly.

Animesh Debbarma was born on Monday, January 19, 1970, in Purba Rajnagar village, Khowai district, Tripura (age 53; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Capricorn. Animesh graduated with B.Tech. degree in CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh (Deemed to be a University) in 1994. He worked as an engineer with Indian Oil Corporation in Mumbai for several years and had a brief stint with CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) in Nagpur.

Animesh Debbarma was associated with the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipura (INPT). In the 2003 Tripura Legislative Assembly elections, he contested on the INPT ticket and ultimately defeated Aghore Debbarma, the candidate of the CPI(M). In 2006, he formed the National Conference of Tripura (NCT), a party comprised of disaffected members from various groups including the Twipra Students Union, Tribal Youth Federation, Tripura CPIM Party GMP and INPT leaders. In the 2013 state elections, NCT failed to win any seats. Nonetheless, it merged with the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) on March 14, 2020. After remerging his party into the INPT, Animesh briefly joined the Tiplamota Party ahead of the 2021 TTAADC (Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council) elections. After successfully winning the Kulai-Champa Hour (ST) constituency, he served as deputy chief executive of TTAADC, overseeing important areas such as tribal welfare, industry and agriculture. Animesh won the 2023 elections from Ashrambari constituency and became a member of Tripura Legislative Assembly with the support of TMP. Later, the Tipra Motha Party became the official opposition party with 13 legislative bodies in Parliament, and he was appointed Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.
