Anjali Bhardwaj is an Indian social activist and RTI activist who works to strengthen the implementation of the Right to Information Act. She is the co-convener of the National Movement for People’s Right to Information (NCPRI) and a founding member of the Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS).

In 1999, Anjali Bharadwaj took up the Right to Information movement. She is co-convenor of the National Campaign for People’s Rights to Information (NCPRI). Anjali has also worked on the Whistleblower Protection Act, 2011, the Grievance Redressal Act, 2011 and the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013. Anjali is one of the founding members of the Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS) or Citizens Vigilance Initiative (SCVI), a citizens’ group that promotes transparency and accountability in government operations. Among other things, she works with the RTI Assessment and Advocacy Group (RAAG), an organization established in 2008. As part of the group, Anjali and other members conduct ongoing assessment of the implementation of the RTI Act. She was also a leading member of the Right to Food movement, advocating for universalization of the public distribution system, right to work, land reforms and social security for all citizens of India.

Anjali is a well-known writer and has published articles in many news publications such as an article on the Lokpal Amendment in The Indian Express, an article on the Prevention of Corruption Act in The Hindu, The Economic Times published an article on the Lokpal Bill, Deccan Herald published an article on the performance of the Information Commission and Outlook published an article on the proposed amendments to the RTI Act.

- 2009: Awarded the Ashoka Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship for using the RTI Act to ensure transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the functioning of elected representatives
