A Reddit user describes his experience of receiving a “creepy” package from an unknown sender.
Earlier this week, a user — who goes by the name SharkBait85 on the community forum website — claimed in a post that they recently received a sealed package with a wooden heart inside without a return address attached.
Sharing a series of photos of the box the heart was sent in, the user wrote: “Received this in the mail a few days after Valentine’s Day [sic] Day. It was addressed to me without a return address. The lid was closed, and even though I probably shouldn’t have, I opened it with a butter knife (I hope I’m not cursed, lol).”
“A wooden box with an anatomically correct wooden heart inside. You can find similar items on Etsy and other online stores,” they continued.
The Redditor then asked: “Do I have a fan with really bad taste or is this something more sinister,” before adding that they were “definitely confused about this.”

In the comments section, the user was met with remarks from others questioning the mysterious package, with many referencing Edgar Allan Poe Tell-Tale’s heart.
“A telltale sign that someone loves you,” one user wrote, while another added: “Take a quick look around. Do you see a raven?” — referring to another famous work written by the late author.
Others, meanwhile, told the original poster that a certain type of individual probably sent them a fake heart.
“You got a goth fan,” said one user, while another wrote: “Some goth out there loves the Girls and you.”
Another added: “As a goth I can confirm that these are some of the things that goths would give to their partner or crush (if they are also goths, and many like this sort of thing).”
