After college, Ankiti joined McKinsey & Company in Bangalore as a management consultant, where she worked from 2012 to 2014. Later in 2014, she joined Sequoia Capital in Bengaluru as an Investment Analyst. She was traveling to Bangkok with her colleagues, and when she visited Chatuchak Market, she discovered that local shops did not have online stores. Ankiti said in an interview,
We were at this market called Chatuchak. With over 15,000 stalls and approximately 11,500 independent traders, it is the largest weekend market in the world. I was like, “Wow, these things should be online!” But they just couldn’t sell them online, they didn’t know how. That’s how it all started. “
In 2014, she met Indian Institute of Technology graduate Dhruv Kapoor at a party. Dhruv worked as a software engineer at Kiwi Inc. game studio in Bangalore. They both decided to start their own businesses, and within a few months, both quit their jobs. Ankiti and Dhruv started their company ‘Zilingo’ in 2015 by investing their savings and raising funds from investors. In nearly four years, Zilingo became a unicorn (a startup valued at $1 billion or more). Zilingo is headquartered in Singapore and managed by CEO Ankiti Kapoor, with its technology office in Bengaluru managed by CTO Dhruv Kapoor.

Complaints of serious financial irregularities
Ankiti Bose was fired from Zilingo in May 2022 following an independent forensic audit into complaints of serious financial irregularities. The company has appointed Kroll and Deloitte to conduct a forensic audit to review complaints it received against her. Following her firing, she shared a post on her Instagram account. She wrote,
I have been suspended for the past 51 days due to an anonymous whistleblower complaint, and today I was informed that my employment has been terminated for “insubordination,” among other reasons. “
She further wrote,
I saw neither Kroll nor Deloitte’s report, nor was I given enough time to provide any of the documents they requested. Any report issued after my dismissal will be invalidated as it appears to have been directed by all parties to the conflict, and we will pursue our rights to the fullest extent of the law against this witch hunt. I will be speaking formally soon to detail the conflicts of interest in how this process is run. ”
Legal battle with Zilingo co-founder
In April 2024, she accused Zilingo co-founder Dhruv Kapoor and former COO Aadi Vaidya of “deception”, “criminal intimidation”, “conspiracy” and “harassment” and filed an FIR against them. Dhruv Kapoor Aadi Vaidya, while denying the allegations, said Ankiti wanted to tarnish their reputation and had bad intentions.
