Mom June Shannon’s family struggles to come to terms with their new reality as Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s battle with cancer continues and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson decides on college.
In the episode from Friday Mama June: Family crisis, Alana celebrated her graduation with her loved ones. After the shock of receiving a car from Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efrid and her husband Josh as a graduation gift, the family moved the party to the pool, where Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon awaited Alan with another gift.
At first, Alana, 18, was squealing with delight as she unpacked a pair of lashes for her brand new pink car until she pulled out a branded t-shirt from the Colorado university she was accepted to.
“Here we go again with the Colorado stuff!” Alana sighed before getting excited. She claimed she was “stressed out” by family members pushing her to make a decision about her post-graduation plans.
Earlier this season, Here comes Honey Boo Boo alum received a hefty scholarship along with admission to the University of Colorado to major in nursing.

After Alana repeated that “my decision” to go to college, Lauryn, 24, reminded her that her family wanted the best for her and her future until mom June stepped in and suggested that Alana wanted to stay in Georgia.
“I say if she wants to stay here, it doesn’t matter,” mom June stated before noting that Anna’s cancer diagnosis complicated things and that the graduate wasn’t jumping to leave.
“I personally don’t think Alana is like, ‘Whoah! We’re going to college!’ Because you didn’t even register for any courses,” she continued in the conversation in front of the cameras. “You didn’t make sure they were available in your classes. Maybe she doesn’t want to go there and just doesn’t know how to say it. Because he knows he’s going to get a reaction from Pumpkin.”
Lauryn, on the other hand, disagreed with her mother and was honest about her fears in her own confessional.

“I really want what’s best for Alana,” the mom of four explained. “And her getting out of here and exploring a whole new life in a new, different state with a new record is going to be so much better than staying here and becoming a teenage mom like me, mom, Anna — like, it’s just a family thing, like, I don’t know .”
“Just get out of here,” she added.
Eventually, Alana rushed off to her room as the discussion about her college admissions continued to heat up. She later confronted her family along with Anna, who asked them to “shut up and leave her alone” on her behalf.
Elsewhere in the episode, it was Anna’s turn to face the music.
When Lauryn accompanied her sister to chemotherapy, she went to the doctors to get “the right answer” about Anna’s prognosis after she felt like her sister was “sugarcoating” her condition. Then she found out that the mother of two did not have much time after medical experts suggested that Anna get her “affairs in order”.

At home, Lauryn started making lasagna, Anna’s favorite food, after hearing about her lack of appetite. She told Josh the heartbreaking news she had received from the doctor and wondered aloud if she would be responsible for taking custody of Anna’s daughters after her death.
“Anna didn’t ask me to take care of Kaitlyn or Kylee, but our kids are really close,” Lauryn told the cameras. “And it kind of overwhelms me because it’s like, I know at the end of the day if Eldridge can’t do it, I’m going to have to be the person that’s going to have to do it.”
While Josh said he was reluctant to have more children, Lauryn also admitted that she didn’t want the responsibility but felt unable to bring up the subject with Anna given her condition.
“I just can’t, man. Now I’m sending one to college, and then I got four more — half of them in diapers,” Josh admitted to the cameras before addressing Lauryn. “Like, I have no patience for other people’s children either, I’m sorry.”
