Anne Hathaway pokes fun at her friend Jeremy Strong’s fashion choices.
Following her appearance at the 2025 Golden Globes, Hathaway, 42, took to Instagram to playfully point out the similarity between Strong’s red carpet ensemble and her memorable look from the 2001 film. The Princess Diaries.
In a post on Monday, Jan. 6, the Oscar-winning actress shared side-by-side pictures of Strong, 46, wearing a mint green hat to the awards show and a picture of herself in the movie wearing a gray hat in the same style. At the awards show, Strong also wore a matching suit with a white turtleneck underneath.
“Honey, I’m not mad that you borrowed it, but I didn’t even know you were going to change the color… anyway, it doesn’t matter, congrats on being named The Apprentice!!! 💚,” Hathaway wrote in the caption.
Strong was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in the Trainee.
Fans love the nod to Hathaway’s breakout role.
“Got that Mia Thermopolis fresh baby,” one user wrote in the comments on Instagram, noting how Hathaway’s character wore a hat to hide her new hairstyle.
“Respect Mia Thermopolis!!!!” said another.
A third wrote: “Who wore it better? (Don’t answer, we already know).”

It’s all in good fun between Hathaway and Strong. She and Succession star shares a years-long friendship that began during the filming of the film in 2019 Serenity.

“I think the connection became stronger and more personal after that because I spent time with Jeremy’s character Serenity,” Hathaway told PEOPLE in 2022. “It was so nice when we had personal moments on that film.”

The actress went on to explain how the duo’s lives “kind of opened up in a similar way at a similar time because we both became parents around the same time.”
“From my perspective,” she continued, “this beautiful friendship has taken root.”
Hathaway and Strong worked together again when they played husband and wife in the 2022 coming-of-age drama. Armageddon time.
