Anthony was born in Yalta, in the Ukrainian SSR and Soviet Union. Anatoly Vladimirovich Fedorov is his real name. His father is Vladimir Fedorov and his mother is Natalia Fedorov. When he was nine years old, he and his older brother Denis moved to the United States, first to Florida and then to Brooklyn, New York, before landing in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Trevose, Pennsylvania. In childhood, he had a tracheotomy due to a congenital anomaly of the trachea, from which the wound is still visible today.

Despite predictions that he would never be able to speak again, he recovered and began singing at a young age. He is a baritone who also plays keyboards and guitar. Fedorov is bilingual (Russian and English). He can also perform in Spanish and Italian. Sadly, his brother died of cancer in September 2006. Fedorov appeared on American Idol during the spring 2005 season. He was known among American Idol auditionees for performing duets, which all three judges believed to be his best approach. Fedorov was eliminated from the competition on May 11, 2005 after performing “I’m Already There” by Lonestar and “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes during Country Music/Gamble and Huff Week. Many say his rendition of “If You Don’t Know Who I Am By Now” was one of his best, with him staying on key throughout the song and receiving praise from the judges. It was considered one of his most effective performances, along with Celine Dion’s “I Surrender” and Paul Young’s “Anytime You Go Away”.

Fedorov placed third on NBC’s Fear Factor Reality TV special in June 2006, along with American Idol season two winner Carmen Rasmusen. He appeared in four segments of Triple Threat, which aired on MTV’s Little Talent Show on September 26, 2006. Fedorov continued to perform extensively after American Idol, including appearances at summer festivals and shows. In April 2007, Anthony traveled to US Air Force Stations in Europe to judge and compete in the Military Idol competition. Federov’s performance “Ballroom with a Twist” toured the eastern United States in April 2009.

In March 2009, he played at the BMI Latin Music Awards honoring Gloria Estefan. In December 2011, Anthony performed a solo show at The Bitter End in New York. Their record Synergy, featuring Fedorova as lead singer, was released on June 11, 2013. On August 22, 2013, both parties agreed to end their relationship with immediate effect.
