Anthony Hopkins supports the arts.
The Oscar winner (85) was joined on Thursday by his wife Stella Arroyave at the opening of Salma Hayek’s brother, Sami Hayek’s art exhibition called “Frequency”, held at Christie’s Los Angeles in Beverly Hills.
Hopkins smiled as he and Arroyave, 67, posed for photos during the event, both alone and with the artist, as well as with Salma, 57, her husband François-Henri Pinault and Demi Moore.
At the event, Sami told PEOPLE how he found support from friends in Los Angeles.
“I’ve had a very blessed life because I know people from all walks of life and what I value in all people, regardless of their background or regardless of what they do or whether they’re successful in their field or not, I value authenticity quite a lot,” He said.
“I really appreciate people who have the courage to be individuals, and this city is blessed with all of that,” Sami added.
Salma’s friendship with Hopkins goes back a long way. In 2003 – the same year he married Arroyave – the actress showed her support for Hopkins by being by his side when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The life of Anthony Hopkins in photographs
To celebrate his Oscar win Father back in April 2021, Salma posted a video on Instagram of her and Hopkins dancing together during a sweet moment captured at the actor’s home in Wales.
Set for Leonard Cohen “Dance Me to the End of Love,” began the video of Hopkins moving before Salma appeared and danced next to him. The pair then embraced as the clip drew to a close.
“Celebrating with the king @anthonyhopkins 👑 his second Oscar for his outstanding performance in The Father,” Salma captioned the post.
Sharing a photo of the pair that appeared to have been taken during the same meeting, Hopkins wrote in September 2022: “Happy birthday Salma. Your beauty and grace are unmatched. We love you.”

Following his roles in Armageddon time and Son last year, Hopkins next plays famed 20th-century neurologist Sigmund Freud in the Freud’s last session, in selected theaters from December 22.
The actor also appears in the film One life as Britain’s Sir Nicholas Winton, the man responsible for organizing the rescue operation that brought approximately 669 children from then-Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia to England in the months leading up to World War II in 1939. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Last December, Hopkins celebrated 47 years of sobriety in an inspiring Instagram video. Saying he is a “recovering alcoholic,” the actor encouraged his followers struggling with addiction to seek help by talking to someone or joining a 12-step program.

“I didn’t realize it was some kind of condition — a mental, physical, emotional condition called alcoholism or addiction,” Hopkins said in the video. “And I’m not an expert on drugs—I’m not an expert on anything. I don’t know anything. Except I’ve found a life where nobody bullies me.”
“I want to say to all you young people who are being bullied, take care – be proud of yourself,” he continued. “Don’t listen to them. Don’t let them put you down. Depression is a part of life, sometimes [as is] anxiety. Life is hard.”
