Anthony Ramos to Star in Bob the Builder Movie Set in Puerto Rico Produced by Jennifer Lopez

Bob the Builder is about to fix the big screen.

On Thursday, Mattel Films announced plans for its first feature-length animated film, based on the popular children’s television series. Bob the builder.

The film will star Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beast), who will also serve as producer alongside ShadowMachine’s Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonic

Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Nuyorican Productions’ Benny Medina will also co-produce (they made the Netflix hit Mother, plus Lopez’s other recent films Shotgun Wedding, Hustlers and Marry me).

The film will “celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of Caribbean Latin American nations and their people,” according to a press release.

Synopsis: “When Roberto ‘Bob’ travels to the enchanting island of Puerto Rico for a major construction job, he takes on the issues affecting the island and explores more deeply what it means to build.”

“For years,” Ramos, 32, said in a statement, “Bob the builderHis characters have inspired young people around the world. I’m proud to be working with Mattel Films, ShadowMachine, Nuyorican Productions and Felipe Vargas to bring this important message to the big screen, adding elements of life inspired by my own.”

“A movie about friends working together, celebrating the beautiful home they share, and how love can help you overcome any obstacle in your path. Can we fix it? Yes, we can!” he added.

Felipe Vargas will write Bob the builder movie, who supervised by Kevin McKeon, Ivan Sanchez and Arturo Thur De Koós for Mattel and Natalie Haack Flores for Nuyorican.

Bob the builderwhich was syndicated globally, ran for 12 seasons between 1999 and 2011.

Mattel Films’ first theatrical release, Barbiebecame the highest grossing film of 2023. His other projects in the pipeline include: american girl, Barney, Hot Wheels, Magic 8 Ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, Matchbox, Polly Pocket, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, UNO, View-Master and Wishbone.
