Bobby Berk Admits ‘There Was a Situation’ with Tan France That Made Him ‘Angry’ but ‘We Will Be Fine’

A strange eyeBobby Berk says he has no hard feelings about parting ways with the Fab Five.

On Thursday, just one day after the Netflix series returned for its eighth season, vanity fair published an extensive interview with the 42-year-old interior design expert. During the conversation, he opened up about the alleged fight with his co-star Tan France.

“I hope this interview helps quell some of the speculation,” Berk said. “I want people to know that Tan and I will be fine.”

Although he made light of the “situation”, he said the two had moved past the problem.

“Tan and I had a moment. A situation happened, between Tan and me, and it has nothing to do with the show. It was something personal that was brewing – and nothing romantic, just to be clear.”

“Should I have stopped following Tan? No,” Berk continued. “Maybe I should have just shut him up. But that day I was angry and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings – and siblings will always fight.”

As for his previously announced exit from the show after the current season, he added that he and the rest of his co-stars — which also include Karamo Brown, Antonio Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness — had previously signed a seven-run contract ending in September 2022. Once group finished recording in New Orleans, Berk said he assumed that was the end.

He said vanity fair that on the last day of filming, the “Fab Five and the crew, we all stood there, took pictures and cried. We thought we were done. Mentally and emotionally, I thought we had all moved on. I know I did and I started planning other things.”

He explained that although the original A strange eye the deal was for a seven-cycle deal, due to the recent writers and actors strike, Netflix was short on original content so it reached out to the Fab Five to fill the void.

However, by then he already had other projects he was working on.

“We just assumed the show wouldn’t come back unless we all came back,” he said. “I thought I wasn’t going to FOMO because the show wasn’t going to happen. I’ve come to terms with it.”

Berk reiterated that he has come to terms with the fact that he will no longer be joining the series that made him so successful.

“There were definitely emotions. But each of us had our own reasons for doing what we did,” he said. “I can’t be mad—for a moment I was.”

“All the plans I made when I thought we weren’t coming back, I just wasn’t willing to change them. I would have to hit the brakes on multiple other projects already underway. We just mentally prepared ourselves to move on – that’s why I left.”
