Anuj Rawat was born on Sunday, October 17, 1999 (21 years old in 2020) in Rooppur, a small village in Uttarakhand. Due to the lack of cricket training facilities near his hometown, Anuj moved to Delhi in 2011. He attended Bal Bhavan International School in New Delhi. A few years later, Anuj joined the West Delhi Cricket Academy run by Rajkumar Sharma, the coach of Indian captain Virat Kohli, and since then, he has never looked back.

Anuj Rawat was born into a middle-class farming family. His father, Virendra Pal Singh, is a farmer. His brother, Prashant Rawat, is a digital marketer.

Profession

On 6 October 2017, Anuj Rawat made his debut in first-class cricket for Delhi in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy against Assam. He scored 71 runs in his first innings. He has represented India A and the India Under-19 cricket team. He was also part of the India U-19 team that won the 2018 Asia Cup.

He captained the Indian Under-19 cricket team in a two-match series against Sri Lanka. They beat Sri Lanka 2-0 to win the series.

On 21 February 2019, he made his T20 debut for Delhi in the 2019-20 Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Mullaphadu. In the same year, on 4 October 2019, he made his A-League debut in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Vadodara. Subsequently, Rajasthan Royals bought young wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat for INR 80 lakhs ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League and his career took a sharp rise.

  • Anuj Rawat’s father also played cricket in his youth and wanted to fulfill his dream of playing for India through Anuj. Recalling the past, Anuj’s father said:

    I used to play cricket as a kid and I dreamed of my son playing cricket too. Anuj used to hold the cricket bat straight as a kid. His coach Satish Pokhriyal suggested that if I wanted my son to play professional cricket, I should train him in New Delhi.”
