Anup Kumar, popularly known as “Captain Kure”, was born on Sunday 20 November 1983 (age 40; until 2023) in Parla, Gurgaon, Haryana, India . Anup’s zodiac sign is Scorpio. Professional Kabaddi League
mumba university
In the 2014 Professional Kabaddi League, he served as the captain of the U-Mumba team. Under his leadership, U Mumba won their first Pro Kabaddi title in 2015 and finished the season with an impressive 74 raid points. In 2016, he remained a member of the U-Mumba team despite significant changes to most of the team. With the help of Rakesh Kumar, they finished fifth, although it was the first time U Mumba failed to reach the final. Anup Kumar was retained by U Mumba for the fifth consecutive season and became the first player in Pro Kabaddi history to achieve 400 raid points in Season 5.

In the sixth season, U Mumba decided to release Anup Kumar from their team. Anup Kumar was bought by the franchise owned by Abhishek Bachchan of Jaipur Pink Panthers for Rs 30 lakh during the auction.

Anup Kumar made his international debut at the 2006 South Asian Games. During his career, he won Kabaddi gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games. Anup Kumar steered India’s national Kabaddi team to a historic third victory at the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup and his leadership skills shined.

Facts / Trivia
- Anup’s sister Nilam revealed in an interview that her father didn’t like him playing kabaddi and was worried that he would not study. However, Anup still jumps over walls and sneaks out of the house to play the sport. His father only allowed him to play sports if he could win presents, and was later given a sports place because his studies were “mediocre”.
- Anup reveals that he passed his 10th board exam by cheating because he was never interested in studying.
- Anup Kumar has three main skills: bonus, hand touch and toe touch. He earned the famous nickname “Bonus ka Badshah” due to his extraordinary ability to score bonus points. Additionally, he is known as “Captain Cool” for his outstanding leadership and sportsmanship on the field.
- Anup Kumar has always dreamed of training young people to play kabaddi. After he became a coach, he established a kabaddi academy called “Future Warrior Academy” in his hometown of Gurgaon, Haryana.
- To tie the two events together, he chose to retire on his son’s birthday.
