Jason Momoa’s sea superhero is back.
The actor returns as Arthur Curry in an action-packed feature trailer for DC Studios Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomwhich debuted on Thursday.
In the trailer, fans can see the titular hero as well as his mother Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), villain Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Mera (Amber Heard), among others.
Arthur is seen meeting half-brother Orma (Patrick Wilson), where they appear to be teaming up against Manta, the latter of whom at one point ominously says, “I’m going to kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear.”
“I will kill his family… burn his kingdom to ashes,” adds the villain.

Jason Momoa teases Ben Affleck could return as Batman: ‘Bruce and Arthur’ were ‘caught on set’
The first independent Aquaman the 2018 film grossed over $1 billion at the global box office.
While that film served as a “romantic action-adventure film” about Arthur and Heard’s Mera, director James Wan said Entertainment Weekly the new sequel is a “bromance action-adventure movie” with Arthur and half-brother Orm.
Wan, 46, also teased the potential for future Aquaman movies, clarifying that the new film is “in no way related to” DC’s recent big-screen offerings like Flash.
“What I like between this one and the first one is that you really see the growth of Arthur. He starts out as kind of a drifter, and in the second one he finally has more direction about what he wants to do with his life,” the director said. EW.
“If and when there’s a third, it should be; it should develop these characters because I think we put certain things in a good place in the second movie that you can definitely build on in the third,” Wan continued.

“I don’t have any stories, but character development is the biggest thing I think is next Aquaman the film should be about that,” he added.
In January 2022, Wan shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram to celebrate the film’s final day of filming.
“And finally, finally, finally a picture of the last day of #Aquaman2 in Malibu with these two gentlemen @prideofgypsies @thereelpatrickwilson Yes, we get very wet, a lot, on this show,” he wrote in the caption.
When the sequel’s release date was pushed back to later that year, Wan explained on Instagram that he and his team were working on “big, epic world-building” and that they “need time to get it right.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom it’s in theaters on December 20.
