Are Capri Sun Pouches Being Replaced with Bottles? The Brand Responds to the Panic

Capri Sun bags aren’t going away — in fact, you can seriously stock up if you want.

The internet was ablaze on Thursday, August 29 after rumors swirled that the brand was replacing its signature bags with plastic bottles. But Capri Sun clarified to PEOPLE that “the bag is here to stay.”

It all started when the Instagram profile @snackolator posted a photo of bottles in three flavors: Fruit Punch, Strawberry Kiwi and Pacific Cooler. Followers jumped to conclusions, assuming this meant the bags were on their way out – but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“After seeing fans panic over the news, the brand behind America’s #1 kid’s drink is assuring everyone that the pouch is here to stay in a truly epic way,” Capri Sun tells PEOPLE. “Debuting exclusively at Walmart next week, Capri Sun is launching a range of 3,800+ Capri Sun shopping bags, ensuring no one misses out on their favorite drink.”

The company also shared a picture of the huge amount of bags on Instagram. “Don’t believe everything you read online – we’d never ignore a purse and they’re here to stay!” reads the title. “Starting next week, you can shop the entire range of Capri Sun bags. Find us at Walmart.”

Capri Sun did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s inquiry about the price of the palette.

12 oz. the bottles posted by @snackolator are actually the real product, just not available yet. “Disposable bottles are an innovation predicted for next year!” the company tells PEOPLE.

And they do not replace the aluminum bags in which children swallow straws for a long time. The Snack Instagram account put a disclaimer in the comments after the post went viral.

“For those who have heard (incorrect) reports, the bags aren’t going anywhere! This is an *extra* to give adults (and probably teenagers) an option that would like some Capri Sun without walking around with a bag!”
