Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo conquer the red carpet with their Wicked-inspired look ahead of the musical’s release later this month.
However, if you thought all that coordination required meticulous budgeting, think again.
In an interview with content creator @aichark published Nov. 7, Grande, 31, and Erivo, 37, revealed that many of their complementary ensembles, inspired by their characters Glinda and Elphaba, weren’t actually planned in advance — the stars just lip-synced . And they were from “day one”.

“On the first day of rehearsal, we both wear Balenciaga hoodies. Mine was pink and it said ‘gay,’ and hers was black and it said ‘Balenciaga,’” Grande revealed.
The actresses — who also sport the same “For Good” tattoos — went on to reveal that many of the outfits they wore during their recent appearances together were unorganized, including when they both brought a little Oz to the 2024 Oscars on March 10 and then at the 2024 Olympic Games on July 16.
“It was never really planned. it is never planned. We just show up and it happens,” said Erivo.
Grande couldn’t help but call their lip sync “kismet.”

They also revealed that, not knowing what the other was wearing, they ended up accessorizing their outfits for the November 3 Sydney premiere with animal-inspired necklaces and rings. Grande wore Lorraine Schwartz butterfly pieces and Erivo Roberto Coin lion pendants.
“We just decided to keep surprising each other,” Erivo said.
Fans are indeed in for more surprises as the stars continue to create magic on the film’s press tour, which recently saw Grande in an iridescent pink Versace gown and Erivo in a ravishing black Thom Browne design at the November 11 Mexico premiere.
