Ariana Grande Uses Her Full Name in Wicked Movie Credits 

Ariana Grande is going back to basics when it comes to her name.

The singer and actress (31) decided to change her stage name to her full name “Ariana Grande-Butera” in the credits of her new film Wickedaccording to E! News.

Her full name includes both her mother’s name, Joan Grande, and her father’s name, Ed Butera. Grande’s father, a graphic designer, separated from her mother Joan when the pop superstar was 8 years old.

The change comes after the “We Can’t Be Friends” singer reconnected with her estranged father in recent years after the pair fell out of touch in 2013.

The following year, Grande described the experience as “one of the hardest things” she’s ever had to deal with.

“It’s private… It took me so long to come to terms with it,” she explained in a 2014 cover interview. Seventeen magazine. “So much of me comes from my father, and for so long I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay to disagree with someone and still love them.”

The following year, the singer shared a photo of her and her father posing backstage at one of her concerts on her Instagram Story, captioned: “Foreva.”

Grande even changed the song’s lyrics during the 2020 Grammys to “I’m gonna thank my dad because he’s really awesome,” per Elle magazine.

Meanwhile, her name in Wicked loans are not the only change for The Nickelodeon alum, who tackled voice changes earlier this year for her role as Glinda in the film, stars alongside singer-actress Cynthia Erivo, boyfriend Ethan Slater and a host of other famous faces.

In an interview for Shut up Evan podcast with Evan Ross Katz on July 9, Ariana said that her voice change is “a normal thing that people do, especially if you have a big range.”

“I just spent a long time playing the character every day,” she explained. “[I trained] my voice doing different things for a long time before going to London and before all this; muscle memory is the real deal.”

In response to fans who initially teased her about her voice change, the singer also replied, “I intentionally change my voice position (high/low) often depending on how much I sing 😭.”
