Ariana Madix Confirms ‘Jamie’ Rumor with ‘Dirty as Hell’ Single AF Cocktail Recipe and More: Exclusive Excerpt

Ariana Madix doesn’t just invite other women in the “salty mire” of breakups to drown their sorrows — she provides the recipe.

Madix’s upcoming book Single AF Cocktails: Drinks for Bad Dinner Parties (out Dec. 5) is a work of love-turned-hate. Written in the wake of her shocking revelation in March that her then-boyfriend Tom Sandoval had been having an affair with her friend and Vanderpump Rules co-star Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, the book chronicles the highs and “new lows” of the couple’s nine-year relationship.

Since then, the Bravo star has reclaimed his voice, his story and his power — despite the seeming flood of revelations about Sandoval, 41, and his months-long relationship with Leviss, 29, which he conducted under the radar.

One such revelation centered on speculation about the secret name Sandoval used on his phone to cover up his illicit messages with Leviss. IN Individual AF cocktailsMadix confirms that her ex was indeed “so committed to this double life that he used ‘Jamie’ as a code name for her in his phone.”

As she says at the beginning of the book, one of the defining moments of her connection with Sandoval was when he comforted her — as a friend — when her father died suddenly of a heart attack in August 2013. With that in mind, she explains why the name “Jamie” cut particularly deep.

“The worst thing is that my dad’s name was James, may he rest in peace,” writes 38-year-old Madix. “Imagine seeing a screenshot of a text where he tells a friend how he ‘took Jamie to the mile high club’. For him to use my father’s name for her was a level of disrespect I didn’t realize was possible.”

Speaking to PEOPLE about her decision to include such “vulnerable,” raw memories from last year, Madix says, “Most of my life is off camera, so it’s something I think people will never see.”

Describing Sandoval’s fraud, she continues: “We’re talking 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 30, 31 days a month day in and day out, moment to moment, lies, deception and horror and horrible treatment.”

“There are so many things like that,” she adds, “and there’s definitely not room in a cocktail book to write them all down.”

2 1/2 oz. vodka 1/2 to 3/4 oz. olive juice, if desired, olive ice cubes or pickled onions for decoration

• Combine vodka and olive juice in a mixing glass with ice and stir to chill
• Use a straw to taste the drink and make sure you are satisfied with the amount of olive juice
• If you like it extra extra dirty, add some more!
• Garnish with a skewer of olives (my personal favorite), pickled cocktail onions, or heck, you can do both

Unlike the elegant Vesper-inspired martini that started our story, this one is as dirty as it gets, perfect for when you’re feeling the salty grime of your breakup.

During the whole affair, he did a lot of s— to me that was dirty as hell, but some things really seemed like new lows. He kept telling me that he wasn’t trying to hide anything from me whenever I asked him about little things here and there. But it turned out that he was taking many steps to cover up the whole thing. He was so committed to this double life that he used “Jamie” as a code name for her in his phone.
