Arnold Schwarzenegger knows the best way to start the day.
The 76-year-old actor said he “doesn’t think” when he wakes up and instead goes to work out early as he discussed his morning routine in City and country Philanthropy Summit.
Speaking during a panel at the event on Thursday, Schwarzenegger said: “I feel good in the morning. I get up and feed my animals, Lulu and Whiskey, and my little pig, Chanel. I feed the dogs and then I go to the gym.”
The former bodybuilding champion described his morning commute to the gym as “like a black and white movie” and said the drive home afterwards “becomes a color movie”.

“That’s because you’re working out and you’ve done something physical where you really sweat and train hard. [It] it makes you feel good because you didn’t do something early in the morning,” Schwarzenegger explained.
“And that’s why I tell people, ‘The key thing is to do something in the morning.’ Don’t think when you get up because stupid things and negative things come to your mind,” he continued. “I said, ‘Just roll out the bed, get on the bike and start cycling, exercise and do something physical.’ And then after that you will feel much better about yourself and the world, the way you look at the world and everything like that.”
Schwarzenegger said his dedicated morning routine is what has kept him “successful” in business and as a father to his children, including daughters Katherine, 33, and Christina, 31, as well as sons Patrick, 30, and Christopher, 26.
