Arundhati Reddy is an Indian cricketer and all-rounder for the Indian women’s cricket team. On September 19, 2018, she made her debut for the Indian Women’s National Cricket Team against the Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team in the Twenty20 series in Sri Lanka.

Arundhati Bhagya Reddy was born on Thursday, April 10, 1997, in Hyderabad, Telangana, India (25 years old as of 2022). Her zodiac sign is Aries. She completed her education from Kendriya Vidyalaya Picket, Secunderabad, Telangana. She began playing gully cricket with her brother and local children, and after noticing her talent, her mother enrolled her in an academy. Arundhati has represented Hyderabad Women’s Cricket Team, South Central Zone, India A Women, India B Women, Railways Women’s Cricket Team, Supernovas and Trailblazers in domestic competitions.
In 2023, she was acquired by Delhi Capitals and participated in the first Women’s Super League as a member of the team. She made her debut for the A-team in 2010 at the age of 12. At the age of 15, she was named captain of the Hyderabad U-19 team. She quickly cemented her place in the Hyderabad women’s cricket team, however, she lacked consistency in her performances during the initial stages of her career and found it difficult to gain international call-ups. In 2017, she joined the Railway women’s cricket team and became an important member of the South Central Railway team along with her idol Mithali Raj.
In the 2017-2018 season, she took 23 wickets and scored 229 runs in 14 games across age groups and formats. She also took 5 wickets for the first time against the U-23 Rajasthan women’s cricket team. Her fiery form did not go unnoticed on the national circuit and she received her first call-up to the India A-League. Reddy was able to continue to perform well and earned herself a spot in the Senior Women’s Challenger Trophy, beating Mithali. In 2019, she took ten balls and picked up one wicket and scored a half-century against Delhi Women Cricket Team. She was part of the Railways women’s cricket team that won the BCCI Senior Women’s Inter-Zone One-Day Trophy (50 overs) in 2023. In the quarter-final match against Tamil Nadu, she performed brilliantly, taking 4 wickets in 30 runs.
International
One Day International (ODI)
In May 2021, Arundhati Reddy was named in the India Women’s One-Day International squad for the three-match ODI series against the England Women’s Cricket Team. However, she did not play for the Indian team in that series.
T20
In August 2018, BCCI announced Arundhati Reddy’s inclusion in the Indian women’s national cricket team squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. She made her T20 international debut on 19 September 2018 in Sri Lanka against the Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team. It was a five-game series and she played in all five games and put in a strong performance. In the first match at the FTZ Sports Center in Katunayake, Sri Lanka, she took the wicket of Yasoda Mendis at an economy of 12.33.
In five games against Sri Lanka, she took four wickets, three catches and three dismissals. With a series of positive performances, she impressed the selectors and was named in the Indian women’s team for the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 in West Indies. She played in the opening match of the tournament, India’s win over New Zealand, taking the wicket of Suzy Bates. Reddy scored 36 runs in 4 overs with an economy of 9.00.
She bowled four deliveries, including her first in India’s match against Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team, and she also took the wicket of Ayesha Zafar. She was rested during India’s third match against Ireland Women. In the final match of the group stage against the Australian women’s cricket team, she scored six runs from four balls. Reddy bowled just two overs against them and scored 19 runs with an economy rate of 9.50. She scored six runs from five balls in the semi-final loss to the England women’s national cricket team.
After the ICC Women’s World T20, she was included in the Indian women’s squad for the tour to New Zealand. She took four wickets in three games but New Zealand won the series. In March 2019, Arundhati Reddy was selected into the Indian women’s football team to participate in the England women’s football tour to India. She scored 18 runs off 19 balls and bowled four in the first game. She was not named in the starting eleven for the next two games of the series, which England won unbeaten. In October 2019, she was selected into the South Africa Women’s India Tour squad. However, she was only named in the starting eleven for the final game of the series. She scored 22 points on 25 balls and was the second leading scorer in the Indian team after Veda Krishnamurthy. She also took the wicket of Mignon du Preez.
Arundhati was named in the Indian squad for the 2020 Women’s Tri-Nations Series in Australia and contributed two wickets. In January 2020, she was selected for the Indian women’s team to participate in the 2020 ICC Women’s World T20 in Australia. Arundhati was named in the starting eleven in the first two games and took two wickets against the Bangladesh women’s team. However, she was dropped from the starting eleven after the first two games and did not feature in the remainder of the World Cup. In March 2021, she was selected in the Indian team for the Women’s India Tour of South Africa and took two wickets. In June 2021, she was selected for the Indian team for the tour of England.

Women’s T20 Challenge
She was a part of the Supernovas team led by Indian cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur from 2019 to 2021. Supernovas won the title in 2019, but she did not compete in any competitions. In 2022, she became a part of the Trail Blazers team led by Smriti Mandhana.
Women’s Premier League (WPL)
She remains unsold in the first round of the 2023 WPL auction. Later, she was signed by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 30 Lakhs for the 2023-2024 season.

- Veteran India bowler Jhulan Goswami announced his retirement on the same day that Reddy received his first international call-up. After India’s tour of Sri Lanka, Indian women’s national cricket team coach Ramesh Powar said,
I think she (Reddy) is a bowler who could replace Juru (Julan Goswami) in the future,”
