Tallulah Willis Shares Raw Post About Eating Disorder Recovery: ‘Romanticizing Unhealthy Times’

Tallulah Willis gets candid about her recovery from an eating disorder.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old, daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, took to Instagram to share a candid post about her diagnosis in which she admitted to “romanticizing unhealthy times.”

Kicking off the post by addressing fellow “babies recovering from ED,” Tallulah said she’s “sending you all love.”

“I’m having an intense moment of romanticizing unhealthy times and what it felt like to move through the day in a body that size,” she wrote. “I just wanted to express that because I know (hopefully) I’m not alone.”

Her description is accompanied by a series of photos from her childhood, “This little raggymuffin is so special and it’s strange to know that and to want to give her abundance and vitality – LIFE! while at the EXACT same moment you feel pulled by an old desire, deep down from the pit of your stomach, to compare yourself to a ‘better’ version of me. And it’s okay to be in the middle of a mess and still not have everything sorted out. 🫛🌾☀️.”

Tallulah was inundated with supportive comments following her announcement, including comments from supermodel Helena Christensen. “You are so wise and beautiful inside ❤,” the 55-year-old wrote in the comments section.

“I felt like the things that have happened in recent years, I’ve very visibly struggled with an eating disorder and because of the age of social media, and it’s been very present, and there’s actually been a huge amount of concern for me that I’ve gotten on my Instagram, and since I’m in the early stages of recovery from that, it’s interesting to talk about it because I don’t know if I’ve had a full leg, I’m just trying every day,” she told host Drew Barrymore.

“I wanted to talk about it because I felt it was really important to share that it was very scary, it was very difficult,” Tallulah added.

The star revealed that she deals with anorexia in a personal essay for Vogue in May last year.

“I have suffered from anorexia nervosa for the past four years,” she wrote.

Tallulah also spoke about having depression and being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Borderline Personality Disorder. She said that after she was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 25, she was given medication to treat it. However, she said the drug also had an “appetite-suppressing side effect”.

“There is an unhealthy sweetness at the beginning of rapid weight loss,” she wrote at the time. “People are like, ‘Oh, wow!’ And then it quickly turns into: ‘Are you okay?’ My friends and family were horrified and I dismissed it.”

“Recovery is probably lifelong, but now I have the tools to be present in all aspects of my life, especially my relationship with my dad,” she said.
