Arvind Swami is a popular South Indian actor. He is known for his roles as “Rishi Kumar” in the Bollywood film “Roja” (1992) and “Shekhar” in the Bollywood film “Bombay” (1995).

Arvind Swami was born into a Hindu family in South India. His biological father is actor Delhi Kumar. His adoptive father is industrialist VD Swami and his adoptive mother is Bharatanatyam dancer CVS Vasantha Swami.
In 1994, he married Gayathri Ramamurthy and they have two children: Rudra Swami and Adhira Swami. The couple went through a difficult period in their married life and decided to go their separate ways. In 2010, Arvind and Gayathri divorced. Arvind has custody of their children.
Two years after the divorce, he married his lawyer girlfriend “Aparna Mukerjee”.
Profession
During his college years, he earned pocket money by working as a model. Mani Ratnam noticed him in one of his ads and invited him to audition for his next film. In 1991, Mani Ratnam teamed up with Arvind for the action film Thalapathi, in which he starred alongside South Indian film superstars Rajinikanth and Mammootty. This is Arvind’s debut novel. Later, he acted in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films.
He received critical acclaim for his performances in films such as “Roja” (1992) and “Bombay” (1995). Both the films won National and State Awards.
In 1995, he provided the Tamil voiceover for the adult Simba character in Disney’s animated film The Lion King.
In 1997, the Tamil film Minsara Kanavu won four National Awards, starring Arvind Swami, Prabhu Deva and Kajol.
In 2000, he temporarily retired from the entertainment industry to focus on his career. In 2005, he founded his own company “Talent Maximus”, engaged in payroll processing and temporary staffing business in India.
In 2012, he hosted the third season of the game show Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi.
At Mani Ratnam’s request, he acted in the Tamil film Kadal (2013), for which he lost 15 kg.
In 2015, he won several prestigious awards for his Tamil film Thani Oruvan.
In 2019, Arvind lent his voice to Scar in the Tamil digital remake of the film The Lion King.
In 2019, he was invited to play the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister “MGR” in the film “Thalaivi” starring Kangana Ranaut. The film is a biopic of the iconic politician ‘Jayalalithaa’.
