Ashish Singh Patel is an Indian politician and working president of Apna Dal (Soneylal). He became a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council from Chitrakoot on May 6, 2018. He was elected as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh and served as Minister of Technical Education, Consumer Protection and Weights and Measures from March 25, 2022.

Accused of jailing CPWD engineer
In 2016, Ashish Patel and his family were accused by CPWD junior engineers and contractors of locking them up in their homes due to delays in the work. In an interview, the contractor talked about being locked up by the minister’s family and said that the work was delayed because the tiles had not arrived that day. He further said,
The tiles didn’t come today. It’ll be here tomorrow morning. They accused us of delaying work and locked us up. We were told that we would be locked up until the tiles could no longer be taken out. “
Ashish denied the allegation in an interview, claiming staff were simply scolding workers for delays, saying:
I was not in charge of the bungalow, but I was in it. When I came out, the workers were being scolded by the minister’s staff for delaying work. If someone thinks we have imprisoned them, they can take legal action against us. ”

In a video that went viral in 2023, Ashish scolded a student and snatched away his phone. The student has contacted the Anupriya Patel Public Relations Office with fellow students to inquire about scholarships and fees. The student alleged that Ashish insulted him after snatching his phone.
