Gardner has also represented New South Wales in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Ashleigh Katherine Gardner was born on Tuesday, April 15, 1997 (age 26; as of 2023) in Kogarah, a southern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Her zodiac sign is Aries. She performed well for New South Wales in the 2014-15 Impaja Cup. She made her WNCL debut for New South Wales in the 2015-16 season. She was signed by the Sydney Sixers in her first season in the WBBL (2015-16). In the summer of the same year, she played one T20 and one 50-plus match in New Zealand for the Northern Districts (formerly known as Northern Spirits). She had a breakthrough season in 2016-17, helping the Sydney Sixers win the WBBL|02 title and NSW win the Women’s National Cricket League title. She was also named Young Gun of WBBL|02.
She represented South Australia in the 2017-18 Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), playing just six games before returning to her home state of New South Wales. During WBBL|03, she scored 114 runs off 52 balls against the Melbourne Stars at North Sydney Oval, recording the fastest individual score in the league’s half-century. She earned the title of player of the match. The Sydney Sixers defeated the Perth Scorchers by 9 wickets, with Gardner taking 22 wickets in the final.
She was cleared to play in the finals of the 2018-19 WNCL season after exiting her last game after suffering a minor concussion during warmups. New South Wales won the title that season, with Gardner scoring 30 runs with the bat and 2/36 with the ball in the final, beating Queensland by 33 runs. Gardner suffered the seventh concussion of her career while playing in a WBBL|06 match at Drummoyne Oval. She was subsequently substituted. She later won the title of Player of the Tournament in WBBL|08. This is the first time a past Young Gun winner has received the award.
International
She made her debut in a T20I against New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 17 February 2017, but she lost the Golden Duck award in the 40-run victory. She took her first international wicket in the next game of the series, dismissing Amy Satterthwaite through a catch by Kristen Beams. She made her ODI debut on 2 March 2017 against New Zealand in the 2016–17 Rose Bowl series at Bay Oval. Australia made it four wins with Gardner scoring 12 not out and hitting the winning run. Gardiner was selected for Australia’s squad for the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, and she later became the first Aboriginal Australian woman to compete in a Cricket World Cup against the West Indies. She took eight wickets in as many matches before Australia were eliminated in the World Cup semi-finals. Gardner made her first major contribution with the bat for Australia in the 2017-18 Women’s Ashes opener. She was one of the highest wicket-taker players in the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament, taking 10 wickets in six matches of the tournament. In the final against England, she earned the man-of-the-match award and scored 32 points to lead Australia to victory at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. An eight-wicket victory. She made her Test match debut against England in the 2019 Women’s Ashes match at Taunton County Ground on 18 July 2019. In a drawn match, she became the only woman to hit six runs in an international innings across all three formats. She was given the baggy green jersey during the 2019 Ashes.

On 8 February 2020, she scored 93 runs off 57 balls in a Tri-Nations series against India at Junction Oval, Melbourne, setting her highest T20I score. In the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup against Bangladesh, she led Australia to a score of 86 runs with 22 runs conceded from just 9 balls. She also scored the winning goal in the tournament final to help Australia win its second consecutive world title.
In a drawn match against India, Gardner recorded her first Test half-century during India Women’s 2021/22 tour of Australia. In the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup group stage, Gardner played a dominant game of 18 balls in 48 against New Zealand for the Basin Reserves. She also took 3/15 in this match and contributed to Australia’s 141-run win. Gardner scored 25 runs from 15 deliveries in the first innings and took 3/16 with the ball as Australia beat India by 9 runs in the 2022 Commonwealth Games final. . She was part of Australia’s 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup squad, which beat England in the final to win the title for the seventh time.
