Ashley Park Is ‘So Happy’ to Return to Filming Emily in Paris After Health Scare: ‘We’re Back!’

Ashley Park is back doing what she loves!

After a terrifying medical incident that resulted in her hospitalization, the 32-year-old actress returned to filming the upcoming fourth season of the series Emily in Paris.

Park, who plays Mindy Chen, shared the news on her Instagram Story alongside a video of herself getting her makeup done on the set of the Netflix hit in Paris, France. Speaking in the short clip, the star remarked: “We’re back!”

“So happy to be back and shooting again with @carolenicolas @parizhair!” she also wrote, tagging the show’s official Instagram account and adding a purple heart emoji.

Park initially posted photos of her “first day back at work” on Saturday, noting that she was “going slow, measured and styled [sic] back in Mindy’s shoes.”

Emily in Paris was renewed for a fourth season in January 2022 before the third season premiered. Although production on Season 4 was delayed due to last year’s writer and actor strikes, the cast had their first slate on January 19.

Park, however, revealed days later that she had been hospitalized and was in intensive care for “critical septic shock.”

“As I sit here recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is grateful,” she captioned the post, which featured several photos of her in the hospital with costar and boyfriend Paul Forman. “While I was on holiday in December over the New Year, what started as tonsillitis turned into critical septic shock, which infected and involved several of my organs. I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we were initially told .”

The The joy of driving the star also said that she is most grateful to Forman, 29, for being “unconditionally” by her side the whole time.

“You calmed my fears and got me through an ambulance, three different hospitals, a week in intensive care, scary emergency rooms, countless scans, tests and injections, excruciating pain and so much confusion, until we were alone on the other side of the world. far from those we know,” she added. “I love you Paul. More than I can ever say.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, septic shock is a life-threatening medical condition that involves an infection in the body that causes extremely low blood pressure and organ failure due to sepsis.

A source told PEOPLE that Park had been “very sick” but was “slowly recovering.” Then, days later, she stated that he was “recuperating and resting” with her in Paris Emily in Paris family, thanking them and Netflix for “their genuine kindness and generous patience while I wait to be medically cleared to work.”

“I promise to breathe through all of this and take care of myself as much as I can to get back into fighting shape,” she captioned her post alongside a photo of herself with co-star Lily Collins. “Meanwhile, thanks for the couch cuddling @lilyjcollins ;)”
