Ashley Tisdale tapped into her own hair journey to create her latest collection.
The High school musical alum and mother of two launched the Being Frenshe Hair Health Collection on January 8 as an extension of her Frenshe brand. Tisdale, 39, tells PEOPLE exclusively that hair has always been a “big, big thing” for her after being diagnosed with alopecia in her 20s, so it felt right to focus on a collection that was gentle and showed a lot of love for your scalp and strands.
“I’ve been on such a journey with my hair and hair health,” Tisdale said at an event in New York to celebrate the launch. “[The alopecia diagnosis] it really made me stop and think about all the things I would do to my hair. I realized that less is more and that I need to give my hair more love and less stress.”

The result is a clean setup with three collections within it. The three collections are Moisture, Restore and Clarify, and Tisdale says the intention is to “embrace your natural texture and give your hair a moment”.
The Moisture Collection — featuring shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, hair oil and all-in-one moisturizer — aims to help hydrate your locks and scalp. Tisdale scented the products with one of the best scents from her Being Frenshe body care line, Cashmere Vanilla.

Next, the Restore Collection — which includes a shampoo, conditioner and hair mask — is a great bedtime routine to rejuvenate your hair and scalp. It has another premium Being Frenshe aroma: Lavender Cloud.
And last but not least, the Clarify collection — featuring a clarifying shampoo, scalp serum and scalp scrub — is all about showing your scalp some love and relaxing your day. For this fragrance, Tisdale created a new scent, Salty.

“There are so many products out there that help you get more volume and all that stuff. We’re always asking our hair make certain things. I want us to just let it go. Only when our hair begins to thin, do we ask ourselves: “What should I do?” So let’s start now and give our hair some love,” says Tisdale.
Giving love to her hair wasn’t always something Tisdale did, she admits. She used to bleach it—quite often—but has scaled back what she’s willing to subject her locks to since being diagnosed with alopecia. In fact, she hasn’t gone bright blonde in years, because if it can help reduce her hair loss, she will.

“I love dying my hair and I’ll always go a little bit blonder or darker, but alopecia was the defining moment for me,” she says. “There isn’t really any flow, so inflammation occurs. I love where my hair is at the moment. It took me a long time to grow out and not have to wear extensions.”
Shoppers will find 12 products in the collection, exclusive to Target, with prices ranging from $12.99 to $14.99. Target is also where shoppers can find Tisdale’s other Being Frenshe body care products.
