Ashvini Yardi was born on October 10 in Mumbai. She completed her education in Mumbai and then pursued her BA in Psychology, Advertising and Marketing from Xavier College of Communication, Mumbai. After completing her studies as a Programming Supervisor, she started working at ZEE TV. Under her guidance, she brought many shows like “Saat Phere”, “Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyan”, “Banegi Apni Baat” and many more. She later became a part of Colors and helped the channel reach the number one spot.

After graduation, Ashvini Yardi joined ZEE TV and entered the television industry. She was responsible for bringing in new scripts for the daily soap opera, and under her direction several new shows came to the channel. She was part of the production team of serials like “Saat Phere”, “Teen Bahuraaniyaan”, “Banoo Main Teri Dulhann”, etc. Apart from this, she was also responsible for the conceptualization of the reality TV shows Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge and Lil’ Champs. She got an opportunity to join the upcoming channel “Colors”. After joining, she produced new shows like ‘Uttaran’, ‘Balika Vadhu’, ‘Veer Shivaji’ and even reality shows like ‘Bigg Boss’ and ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’. The launch of these shows really helped the channel reach the number one position. In 2011, she co-founded an Indian production company, Grazing Goat Pictures, with Akshay Kumar, under which she produced the film OMG – Oh My God! (2012). They have also produced several other films such as Mile 72 (2013), Bhaji In Problem (2013), Fugly (2014). In 2015, Ashwini launched her independent production company under the name Viniyard Films. The production company represents several artists, including Amy Jackson.

Released under the label Grazing Goat Pictures, OMG – Oh My God! (2012) is a film about God and ordinary people’s belief in Him and everything around them. The film was loved by many but criticized by a few. The film was banned in the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia due to a controversial storyline. There are also reports that an FIR has been filed against a film director, actor and producer in Ajmer, Rajasthan for hurting religious sentiments.
