Asia Cup 2023: How points system and net runs are calculated

The path to securing a spot in the Super 4s and ultimately reaching the finals will depend on accumulating points throughout the tournament. Six teams of participants were divided into two groups of three for the initial phase. Group A consists of India, Pakistan and Nepal, and Group B Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

In this point-based system, teams will receive 2 points for a win and zero points for a loss. In case of a tie, both teams will receive 1 point. The scoreboard will also feature a tie-breaking mechanism, known as net run rate, which will kick in when teams find themselves tied on the same number of points, ensuring a fair ranking.
