In 2017, the CMA CGM company where Audrey worked provided her with a promotion opportunity in its Chinese branch, so she moved to China with her son from India. Her husband Kushal Punjabi had to stay in India for his acting career. Kushal used to visit Audrey and Kian regularly, but their long-distance marriage began to run into trouble. The couple decided to go their separate ways and prepare for divorce. Kushal was reportedly unhappy with his personal and professional life and was suffering from severe depression. On December 26, 2019, Audrey’s husband Kushal committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai. She worked there for nearly five years. In 2010, she was invited to work in the sales management department of CMA CGM in Mumbai, India. She arrived in Mumbai on January 1, 2011 to lead a team of 150 employees at CMA CGM. She said in an interview,
I had never set foot in this country before, and all of a sudden I was leading a team of 150 people. I really had to prove myself. The young woman is on a mission to reorganize the sales organization in a country that is still very patriarchal. I was well accepted as I was labeled more as a westerner than a woman. I think that’s what helped me impose myself. “
Soon, she was appointed general manager of the company. In 2017, CMA CGM (China) reorganized and provided her with a Chinese commercial management position. She agreed and moved to China with her son. In 2018, she was promoted to Chief Commercial Officer of CMA CGM China.
