Ayo Edebiri Pays Tribute to Julia Roberts at the 2025 Golden Globes!

Bear star, 29, arrived on the red carpet in a baggy gray suit in a nod to Roberts’ iconic look she wore to the ceremony back in 1990.

Edebiri wore a custom Loewe outfit consisting of an oversized gray jacket with structured shoulders, matching wide leg trousers, a gray shirt and black loafers. She added a little sparkle to her monochromatic look by adding a long gold feathered tie.

The actress completed her minimalist look with a pair of small earrings with a ring and silver bars and a red badge with a heart in her hand that she wears on the lapel of her jacket.

Edebiri also sported loose auburn waves to match Robert’s hairstyle at the 1990 Golden Globes. She shared her newly dyed hairstyle on Today“We dyed our hair this morning. It was a bit crazy to dye our hair in a hotel room, but I think it was worth it!”

Stylist Danielle Goldberg reposted a side-by-side photo on her Instagram Stories of Edebiri in her Golden Globes look next to Roberts in an almost identical oversized Armani suit paired with a printed white shirt and tie at the 1990 Golden Globes as she shared the inspiration behind the outfit.

“Important,” she wrote over the photo, tagging both actresses.

Edebiri’s stylistic nod to Roberts at the Globes has even more significance after she recently completed a project with A beautiful woman star. Edebiri and Roberts have finished filming the upcoming thriller After the Hunt in August 2024.

Goldberg re-shared an earlier post that mentioned the pair working together as further inspiration for Edebiri’s Golden Globes outfit. “Ayo, just after Julia’s set…Golden Globes on Sunday…Danielle Goldberg can you hear me,” the message read.

Roberts previously described her outfit at the 1990 Golden Globes, where she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Steel magnoliasas “one of my favorite outfits of all time” that she wore to the awards show.

“I did my hair, the girl did my makeup. And I bought this suit at Armani in Beverly Hills,” Roberts explained of her look British Vogue in January 2024 “I went to the men’s department and they had a tailor in the store and they tailored it to fit me.”

“I don’t even know if people wore really fancy dresses to the Golden Globes back then like they do now, but I thought I was really extra in this outfit,” Roberts continued. “I couldn’t have known it was going to become this, like, statement piece — I just thought I looked fantastic.”

The actress added that “she’s still ha[s] that suit” all these years later.
