Officers discovered the boot shopping bag Baby Elsa was found in had been thrown away – as they offered a £20,000 appeal for information.
A newborn who was freezing was found by a citizen one year ago, today at 21:13 in East London.

She was wrapped in a towel and left near the junction of Greenway and High Street South.
Police revealed that the baby was fortunately unharmed and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The staff named the newborn Elsa after the character of Frozen because the little one was very cold when she arrived.
She has since been raised by a foster family and the Family Court heard last month that she was “doing very well”.
The Met’s child abuse investigation team later discovered that Elsa was actually related to two other babies who were found in a similar way.
Her sibling Baby Harry was abandoned shortly after birth in September 2017 and was wrapped in a blanket.
Baby Roman was also discovered in a towel, placed in a Sainsbury’s shopping bag, in February 2019.
Harry and Roman have since been adopted, which is also the plan for Elsa, Newham Children’s Services said.
The trio, who are all safe and well, are also siblings, according to DNA tests.
But while the police investigation is active, Elsa’s birth cannot be registered, which prevents the child from being adopted.
Family Court officials said they were “very concerned” and wanted the matter resolved as soon as possible.
The senior judge at the East London Family Court, Carol Atkinson, said last month that Elsa was living in a “continuous state of uncertainty”, as reported by the BBC.
Criminals have now offered a £20,000 reward for information about the three newborns.
Detectives searched more than 450 hours of CCTV during their investigation.
Because of the children, the police also have a full DNA profile of the mother.
They shared one theory that the parents live in Plaistow or East Ham as of 2019.
Detective Inspector Jamie Humm said: “We are seriously concerned for the welfare of the parents, particularly the mother, and are continuing to work closely with Newham Council and are appealing for the public’s help with information.
“I believe that someone in the area knew about the mother’s pregnancy and that there may have been concerns within the community for the welfare of this mother.
“I share this concern with you so if you have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please contact us.
“Thanks to the DNA work of forensic colleagues, the police will be able to quickly and easily eliminate any unrelated person, so I would ask you to contact the police in confidence.”
The DI also appealed to staff working in health, education or charities to consider whether they may have met the mother without realizing it at the time.
