Another DC Studios movie is in development, this time starring two of Batman’s greatest DC villains. While the announced DC Universe Chapter 1 movies and TV shows are still in production, fans are always curious to know what other content DC Studios will be working on. DC Studios has been focusing more on villains lately, such as Colin Farrell’s new HBO series Penguin and sequels with Joaquin Phoenix Clown: Pas de deuxit seems like more Batman bad guys are getting attention in live-action movies.
hollywood reporter It was revealed that DC Studios is developing a Bane and Deathstroke team-up movie. While a director has yet to be cast, Matthew Orton (Captain America: Brave New World) has developed a script that is being used by DC Studios, and the search for a filmmaker may occur further along in the process. Neither DC Studios nor James Gunn have commented on the report at the time of publication.
What Bane and Deathstroke movie news means
As exciting as the Deathstroke and Bane team-up movie is, there are still a lot of questions left unanswered in this DC Films report. Reportedly, despite Gunn and Peter Safran serving as producers deadlineit’s unclear if this new project is intended to take place in the new DC Universe or if it exists outside of the upcoming continuity. This is likely another instance of DC Studios leaning heavily on the Elseworlds banner, which has nothing to do with the DC Universe series, including Brave and Fearless The movie will be a new take on Batman.
If the Bane and Deathstroke project is actually tied to Gunn’s DC Universe, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was a semi-replacement for the canceled project. Arkham Asylum The TV show will be part of a new series. While the story doesn’t take place in Arkham Asylum, the team-up movie could serve as a new villain-led movie that could help expand Batman’s mythology within Gunn’s continuity. But before Gunn and DC Studios comment, time will tell what exactly the Bane and Deathstroke movies are for DC Studios.
What we thought about the Bane and Deathstroke movie
While this is certainly a surprising move from DC Studios, it’s nice to see them looking to invest more time in characters like Bane and Deathstroke. After Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke movie hit development limbo, Slade Wilson’s work makes up for it. Additionally, the film could eventually adapt the comic book version of Bane into a live-action version. Hopefully DC will reveal more details about the Bane and Deathstroke movies soon.
DC Universe
The DC Universe is one of the largest comic book franchises, often competing with Marvel. DC Comics was originally founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935 as a nationally syndicated publishing company. Since then, the series has exploded in comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the latest iteration of superheroes, with Zack Snyder bringing in Henry Cavill as Superman. After a few films that received mixed reviews, DC has launched a soft reboot under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
