Bear Breaks into Calif. Family's Fridge, Steals a Watermelon, and Picnics in the Yard: Watch!

Has anyone ordered U-bear Eats?

On May 12, a bear in La Cañada Flintridge, California, pulled off the heist of a lifetime, successfully ravaging a family’s refrigerator.

The mammal broke into the family’s garage and their refrigerator, where he stole a snack for himself: a large slice of watermelon.

A video shot by the children of fridge owner Chris Yee captured the strange bear crime and the children’s adorable reactions.

In the video, the furry thief approaches the device before opening the freezer and refrigerator.

“Dad, it’s in the freezer! Dad, it opened the freezer,” says Yee’s daughter, as another voice sings, “Bear-y, bear-y, bear-y!”

While sitting in front of the now opened machine, the four-legged intruder begins to examine its contents, rummage around and decide which snack to take on the trip.

Then the garage door begins to close, startling the creature, who leaves briefly, but returns (“It’s coming back!”) right after the door is pulled back.

During the second wild animal foray into the garage, the burglar bear spends less time thinking, instead opting for a quick scan before grabbing a juicy slice of watermelon.

After taking off with a summer snack, the bear descends into the Yee family’s backyard – just steps from the crime scene – to feast on the stolen fruit.

Speaking to Los Angeles outlet ABC7, Yee and one of his children recalled their encounter with the watermelon thief.

“It seemed like he really just, you know, took that quarter of a piece of watermelon out with his mouth without disturbing anything else, thankfully,” Yee said.

“And then he proceeded to find a safe place to enjoy himself.”
