Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg were each style stars in their own right before they became a couple — but since tying the knot, they’ve been turning up their best instincts. In their interview for People StyleWatch, Greenberg described Chung’s style as “contemporary but always classic” and “effortless,” while Chung said her husband has “really great style” that somehow makes him look “forever 25.”
That is, of course, when they have time to dress up. As parents of twin toddlers, they might spend more time trying to talk their kids out of their cartoon T-shirts and into toddler Nike shoes bought by Greenberg (who notes that “there’s no fashion for toddlers”) than being prepared for camera on any Saturday.
So on this particular Saturday morning, the couple enjoyed the opportunity to dress up and spend some time together. (“It’s a real pleasure to be here for six hours and not change diapers,” Greenberg joked. “It’s a vacation,” Chung added.) “Dressing a couple for a photo shoot is a little different than it might be in real life. You have to make sure the looks aren’t too matchy-matchy, but that they make sense together,” stylist Heidi Meek tells PEOPLE. “Because Jamie and Bryan look so lovely together and move so well together, the outfits also needed to be harmonious. I chose looks that were complementary, but still showed off their individuality.”
Meek says the two were very fun and easy to work with (especially because they “looked good in everything they tried on!”) and she was happy to take their feedback into consideration when it came to the looks they “gravitated toward.” Meek pulled out a lot of blue tones with whites and florals mixed in, then styled them to reflect the couple’s personal style a little more, making them “fashionable but still casual and relaxed.”

Her personal favorites at the end of the day were the striped Altuzarra dress Chung wore and Bryan’s Missoni top and pants, but it was hard for the cute couple to pick a favorite.
“Because of how photogenic they both are, I was able to attract so many more eyes,” she said. “But I know Jamie and Bryan have twins at home, so we had a fun day and just focused on the two of them so they could rush home to their babies!”

Amaran Grewal was on hand to style Chung’s “sea island hairstyle” and Greenberg’s sufficiently tousled hair, and gave StyleWatch find out how to achieve both.
Grewal says the style he gave Chung is one of the star’s all-time favourites, and is achieved by using a flat iron on dry hair. “Have you ever flat-ironed your hair and accidentally dented it and you’re like, ‘Oh no, this is dented, now I can see the iron mark?’ So I do,” he explained. “I put my hair through the iron with one hand, and then the hand with the iron makes an S shape, and I kind of pinch and curl the hair where I want it.”
To add even more texture, he likes Wella’s “Sugar Lift,” which he sprays on “dimpled” hair and then smooshes into the desired texture. “Again, I’ll literally spray this one product from about 6 inches away in sections from the bottom up, and then basically run my fingers through it really messy, and then just let it dry,” he says. “And then when it’s 100% dry, because it’s pretty sticky, I’ll go through it, and then… You know when you rub your hands together because you’re cold? Knead it like that.”

For Bryan, he says, he wanted to keep a “slightly more casual” look, allowing the actor’s hair to dry naturally with Phytovolume sprayed liberally. “Then I’ll take my hair dryer to work the product, rough drying in all directions and making it look as big as possible to get that volume,” she says, finishing with a dollop of Kevin Murphy’s “Night Rider” wax for texture and hold. “I’m just going to run it through my hair and style it accordingly, and just keep playing with it.”
Grewal tweaked the choppy style into a more polished look as the shoot progressed. To achieve an on-trend look, start with a great basic cut, she advises. “Get a good haircut that’s versatile.”
Freddy Castro did Chung’s makeup to reflect the “fresh essence of spring” as well as the “latest makeup trends.” He used a subtle, smudged dark brown eyeliner (achieved by sprinkling Urban Decay 24/7 liquid liner with a bit of powder shadow) plus a “flawless nude lip”. To recreate the latter, use Skkn Lip Pencil No. 5 mixed with a little Ortega’s Agave Glow Color Stick in “Para Siempre” in the center of the lips, topped with the brand’s Blu Nectar Oil on top for shine. Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Shimmering Powder Blush in the shades Happy and Joy finished off her radiant blush.
“The whole set was an unforgettable experience,” he says StyleWatch. “Collaborating with Jamie and Bryan to create these looks was incredibly fulfilling.”
Finally, nail artist Sheila Monaus created a “fun, versatile” manicure she called the “frosted French” for a “natural look with a fun shimmery undertone.”

Want to try it yourself? “Start with clean nails and apply your favorite nail base; mine is ORLY’s Rubber Base,” she says. “I applied two coats of OPI’s Samoan Sand polish. Let it dry, then take a bottle of OPI’s Snow Holding Back, wipe one side of the brush against the inside of the bottle (so there’s not too much extra liquid), take the polish and apply a small amount to the edge of the tip of the nail and draw in a crescent shape if necessary.”
