Last year, Bella Poarch filed for divorce from her husband of almost four years, surprising many fans who were unaware of the marriage. Now, she opens up about the relationship and its end.
The “Build a Bitch” singer (whose real name is Denarie Poarch) and ex-husband Tyler Poarch finalized their divorce in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County on Tuesday, documents obtained by PEOPLE confirm, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason.
Last week, 26-year-old Bella appeared on Call her dad podcast and talked about the timeline of that relationship, revealing that they met in the military when they were both 19 years old. “We were both very introverted, and as soon as we saw each other, we kind of fell in love. It was, like, love at first sight,” she told host Alex Cooper.

Bella explained that she greeted him first thinking that Tyler wouldn’t do it because of his introverted nature, and they had been together for seven years. “He definitely helped me through a lot of dark times,” she said, adding that she was his first relationship, while he was her second. – We did a lot of our debuts together.
He proposed to the “Doll” performer after two months of dating, she recalled, noting that he didn’t have enough money for a ring and bought her a necklace instead. She accepted the offer and entered into a two-year engagement.
“I thought we were actually going to be together forever,” Bella said. “He has a tattoo — ‘Together Forever’.”

The couple married on January 28, 2019, according to court documents. She said further Call her dad that they eloped in a small ceremony in Hawaii, explained with a laugh, “We didn’t want to deal with saying our vows in front of our families.”
Bella began creating content on TikTok in 2020 and quickly went viral, earning one of the most viewed posts of all time on the platform in August with a video of herself lip-syncing to Millie B’s “M to the B.”

Since her first viral video, she has released a string of popular songs as well as her debut EP Dolls, which dropped last year. “It’s hard when I want to do music. I want to be an artist,” said the musician. “But when the person you love wants something different, it’s hard.”

“We’re divorced, but we’re on good terms. It was a mutual decision,” Bella said, dispelling rumors that she cheated on Tyler, which led to the divorce. “That’s not really true. Nothing like that happened.”

After filing for divorce on Nov. 2 of last year, according to court documents, Bella released a statement apologizing to fans for keeping the relationship under wraps and announcing that she would be taking a hiatus from social media, allowing her team to take over the posts for a while.
“I’m sorry if everyone thinks I kept it a secret,” she wrote at the time. “I’ll talk about my divorce when I’m ready to talk about it.”
Last month, Bella released her first single of the year, a collaboration with Lauv called “Crush.”
