Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Put on United Front at His Daughter Violet's Graduation Ceremony

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez supported his daughter Violet at her graduation on Thursday, May 30, amid rumors of strain in their relationship.

Also present at the start of the school in Los Angeles were: Affleck’s ex-wife and Violet’s mom, Jennifer Garner, 51, the other two former children, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, as well as Max and Emme, 16 – the old Lopez twins shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Shortly after the event, Lopez was seen happily chatting with her children. “She seemed optimistic and engaged,” said one observer.

Earlier in the day, Affleck, 51, and Lopez, 54 — whose marriage is “not in the best shape right now,” a source previously connected to Lopez told PEOPLE — reunited for a graduation party.

Before that, they hadn’t been photographed together since May 19, when they appeared in Santa Monica for another school event.

The couple, who eloped in Las Vegas in 2022, 20 years after they first dated and broke up, have recently been living separately, according to sources.

Lopez is staying in the $60 million Beverly Hills mansion they bought last year, while Affleck is staying in a rental house a few miles away.

Affleck was busy filming Accountant 2 around Los Angeles, while Lopez was promoting her new hit Netflix movie Satin while also rehearsing for his upcoming This Is Me…Live tour, which kicks off June 26 in Orlando and runs through August.

“He seems to be fine. She’s very focused on work,” a source recently told PEOPLE about Lopez.
